Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
The Incredibles sold 14 million less tickets than Finding Nemo. Though both opened at the same level.
I'll say 103 opening, 360 total.

^ That's about average legs for Pixar movies and I think that's an acceptable total for TI2, not every Pixar sequel is going to behave like FD.

The original was not, so I am in two minds to expect that. But sure let's hope.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
I was just thinking that we are yet to see a TI2 teaser and then we get this gem.
After an extremely weak year for animated films this year, I'm expecting this one to really break out. $400m+

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
Whenever Pixar movies have come up with friend IRL people always seemed to bemoan that we were getting all of these sequels and none of them were The Incredibles 2. And when I shared this on my Facebook wall yesterday it got the most reactions of any trailer I've posted in a very long time. Toy Story 3 increased about 10% from Toy Story 2's adjusted gross, and Dory basically matched Nemo. The first Incredibles adjusted to $375 million now, so $500+ million is probably a bridge too far, especially with it opening in an obscenely crowded two month window, but $400+ million seems likely.

I'll say 103 opening, 360 total. I feel like The Incredibles has aged better than any Pixar movie and more people are clamoring for a sequel than 4 any of their other properties.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
I haven't watched the first film in forever, but even I know this has potential to be HUGE. The teaser seems to be getting a lot of good buzz, so Disney is already off to a great start. The only thing I'm worried about is that JW2 comes out the following week, but maybe this will be a repeat of how JW and IO coexisted back in 2015.
Either way I can see $400M+.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
Yeah, I also haven't watched the first film in forever, which is weird considering how much I adore it (it's in my top 100). I watched it a lot when my brother was young (and that was when I was in the UK), although he actually preferred Monsters, Inc., but anyway ... there is a whole bunch of people that love it but do not talk about it every second, and they will show up for the sequel, so $400m is guaranteed.

It's interesting to read KJ's review thread on the original movie.

Yeah WTF? Only Ratatouille and Finding Nemo are better than Incredibles.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
So with that new trailer out does anyone still see this doing $400M+ domestic or possibly surprising and taking the number one spot of the year? Its still early, but I found the new footage to be pretty underwhelming honestly. Granted, I haven't seen the first movie in years, but it looks like more of the same so far, and that isn't always a good thing. It might be able to match the first movie adjusted at best, but I wouldn't be surprised if it only did $350M either.

I am not feeling the hype. But, to be fair, I was not feeling the hype with Finding Dory either.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
I think fans of the original will see this no matter what, but if the film is about how the Incredibles stay home while only Elastigirl gets any action, it will be lame.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
The first one did not make nearly as much as it should have (just $260m - same year Shrek 2 made $440m and a year earlier Nemo made $340m), and I think us Incredibles fans over the years have convinced ourselves that it is more loved than it is and that this sequel will just be massive. But I don't think it will be...MASSIVE. They seem to be doing everything right from a marketing perspective, and there obviously is interest, but much like Monsters University, I don't think everyone has been screaming out for this sequel despite people thinking that a sequel would be a good idea. I still think it can top $300m, but I do not see it being this uber-grosser that adds $150-200m to its original gross (whatever it adds will be largely due to inflation). With that being said, superheroes are way more in than they were back in 2004, and Pixar's last two revisits to 10+ year old franchises have both amassed over $400m each. It's a tough one to predict.
I'm going with $365m domestic. I think it can make $115m opening, and 3.1 shouldn't be too hard in the summer.

Re: The Incredibles 2 predictions
Tracking has this at $140m+ right now. I just don't see it beating Dory, seems overly aggressive.
