Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) 18. Source Code (2011) 19. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) 20. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) 21. The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Honourable Mentions
Repo Men (2010) Arrival (2016) In Time (2011) The 6th Day (2000) Ex Machina (2015)
I was hesitant to include superhero movies, but finally decided they were science fiction. However, I do not class V for Vendetta as a science fiction film. Politics. Action. Thrills. Fiction. But no science. The same reason I removed The Purge from my initial list.

Re: Top 21 Sci-Fi Movies of 21st Century
I have a difficulty with both recalling any great sci-fi's from this century and defining what exactly is sci-fi.
I'm not including superhero films.
1. Minority Report (2002) 2. Gravity (2013) 3. The Martian (2015) 4. Edge of Tomorrow (2014) 5. Tron: Legacy (2010) 6. Terminator Salvation (2009) 7. Interstellar (2014) 8. Avatar (2009) 9. Looper (2011) 10. Signs (2002) 11. K-PAX (2001) 12. 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) 13. Source Code (2011) 14. Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) 15. Star Trek Beyond (2016) 16. Equilibrium (2002) 17. Limitless (2011) 18. Ex Machina (2014) 19. Arrival (2016) 20. Passengers (2016) 21. Planet of the Apes (2001)

Re: Top 21 Sci-Fi Movies of 21st Century
The fact I've already seen several films on multiple lists, just shows that the last 17 years of sci-fi been dire.
And come on Thegun, where are the other 11?

Re: Top 21 Sci-Fi Movies of 21st Century
Dude it's Monday. That's a more than solid top 10.
All right:
Star Trek Logan Days of Future Past Star Trek Nemesis I'Robot My stepmother is an alien (whoops that's the 20th century) District 9 AI Children of Men Cloud Atlas (I still have no idea what the fuck that movie is, but I appreciate it that it was made) Bladerunner: The final Cut Harry Potter (Just all of them)
And to be technical, the century actually changed in 1999, so you can include the Matrix. It's like how you are living you're second year even though you are turning one.

The biggest shock here is that stuffp did not include Inception.

Thegun wrote: Ooooh, no one said Eternal Sunshine. Good call, I might have included that would I've thought about it, but then again, I haven't seen it for so long. Remembering it very fondly though. Cloud Atlas is also a good pick by any, but yet, not good enough for my list anyway. Algren wrote: The biggest shock here is that stuffp did not include Inception. And yeah, I struggled with stuffp wrote: I have a difficulty defining what exactly is sci-fi. But yeah, I don't know why I brain farted on that. Inception would be my #1. And for that matter, The Prestige would be #2, so I'm bumping Passengers and Planet of the Apes from the list.

Re: Top 21 Sci-Fi Movies of 21st Century
There is an aspect of science fiction to The Prestige, but I would not label it sci-fi. To each his own. Inception is 100% science fiction.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that view on both films.

Re: Top 21 Sci-Fi Movies of 21st Century
Yup, you can argue if it was January 1st 2000 or 2001, depending on your concept of the Year Zero, but never 1999.
