I was hesitant to include superhero movies, but finally decided they were science fiction. However, I do not class V for Vendetta as a science fiction film. Politics. Action. Thrills. Fiction. But no science. The same reason I removed The Purge from my initial list.

I have a difficulty with both recalling any great sci-fi's from this century and defining what exactly is sci-fi.

And for that matter, The Prestige would be #2, so I'm bumping Passengers and Planet of the Apes from the list.

There is an aspect of science fiction to The Prestige, but I would not label it sci-fi. To each his own. Inception is 100% science fiction.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that view on both films.

And Harry Potter is fantasy.

Nobody cares what Thegoon posts. He thinks The Matrix is eligible.

Yup, you can argue if it was January 1st 2000 or 2001, depending on your concept of the Year Zero, but never 1999.
