Re: Early Friday #s
I doubt Friend Request goes that high.
With that number Kingsman would be good for 45-50.

Yah, who'd think it would have that much less appeal than a Hotel Transylvania film?

Rolling Thunder wrote: Kinda crappy for Lego. September IMs for animated films are usually really strong, and I imagine this had a lot less adult appeal than the first two Lego movies (which had much better reviews and marketing). So anything above $8 million today probably means it's good for $30 million for the weekend, which should mean it's good for $100+ million. That would be really good for Kingsman. I was a little worried for it, but anything above $40 million is good enough, even if it means a lower gross than the original.

Way beyond what I was thinking for Kingsman. I'm happy for it, but sad for my prediction. I didn't think the trailer really brought you back into its world and characters very well, but I guess that was just me then.

The thing about the Lego film is they chose to do a spinoff and and unrelated side film first before and actual sequel, and they are both darker and within a year of each other.

Damn good for Kingsman.
IT should still top 30m with that 9m.

Stronger is #4 on MT.com with 4.1%. That's really promising for not even being a technical wide release.

Re: Early Friday #s
Good for Kingsman and even if it drops some it should still go over $40M for the weekend. I was worried there for a bit it was going be Scorch Trials all over again, but hopefully it stays in the $15-$17M range as the night goes on. Pretty mediocre for Ninjago though. I knew I should have went more conservative with my prediction, but it's been so long since an animated film really brokeout that I thought it would be the one.
Nice to see It still going strong in the face of so much competion.

Re: Early Friday #s
‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Still Gunning For $40M+; ‘Ninjago’ Dulls Blades To $22M+; ‘Friend Request’ A Loner With $1.7M http://deadline.com/2017/09/kingsman-th ... 202174929/ Looks like Kingsman decreased afterall, but holy shit at that drop for Ninjago. It went from 30M+ to low 20's in just a couple hours, so that means night business must have been god awful for it. If It does $30M that honestly might be the most impressive thing to come out of this weekend.

Re: Early Friday #s
Yeah Ninjago is a bomb. We'll be going a long time without a huge animated movie. Last one was Despicable Me 3. Obviously it's not going to be My Little Pony. Then there's The Star, which could do solid (maybe 60 Million or so best case scenario), but that won't be really big. So I guess it will probably be Coco. I really thought that would be a lesser Pixar film (similar to The Good Dinosaur), but the doors will be wide open for it to breakout.

Re: Early Friday #s
Coco was only going to do as badly as The Good Dinosaur if its reviews were as poor. I think it will do 200m, but I'm not sold on much more unless it gets Inside Out level reviews.

Re: Early Friday #s
It just doesn't look that appealing. It's like Pixar re-made The Book of Life, which wasn't a big hit (though honestly 50 Million for that one was pretty good).

I think the lack of a huge family or animated film is going to benefit Thor the most.

Re: Friday #s/Weekend Estimates
Guess I'll talk about estimates here lol
Kingsman opening is solid. Without It I think it could be pushed 40m.
mother! Avoided a 60% drop but then again its opening wasn't big to begin with.
Ninjago # isn't good.

I think with better reviews, Kingsman would have done over 40.

It might seem as if Coco will benefit the most because it is the next big animated/family film, but with all the hype Ragnarok has behind it I don't see it not taking full advantage. At this point Marvel has built up a lot of good will with family oriented audiences as well.

Coco will also benefit but always best to be the first cab off the rank.
