Re: Friday Number
Believe it's supposed to have IMAX for 5 weeks.
The buzz after my Laser IMAX show last night was awesome. People seemed very happy. It is a hell of an experience on the giant 1.43 ratio screen and Nolan's story structure is going to get people talking for better or worse.

Looking at the official IMAX page, it should have it till Labor Day (which would be six weeks) when Marvels Inhukans takes over (they're doing a special theatrical release of the first two episodes). Interstellar had it for a similar length of time though this has the big advantage of having it for summer dailies. Yep, should help a lot. I think the WOM for the IMAX version (especially real IMAX Film or 1.43 Laser) will be very, very strong. It's an incredible experience.

Re: Friday Numbers
Would it be realistic for Dunkirk to stay flat today for a $55m+ weekend? I would expect the older demographic to make that possible.

Inception jumped 16% from true Friday. Apes 3 last weekend jumped about 13% from true Friday. I figure absolute best case scenario is following Inception's daily holds which would be about a $50.7 million weekend. Having said all that, are you seeing signs at your theater that indicate something crazy like you suggested?

Re: Friday Numbers
Still a good start for Dunkirk even though it's not quite as high as expected, but now I'm curious about it's Saturday hold. I'd very surprised if it increased given the fact it's a Nolan film opening in late July, although it does skew really old. Interstellar managed to increase, but that was released in November.
Brutal drop for Apes though. No way it gets to $160M now and it looks like $140M may even be questionable.

Another great hold for Baby Driver! $1,705,000 (down 35.6% from last Friday) Really shocked by how awful Apes is doing.

Mix that with a misleading title, and it being an ultra serious film about apes taking over the world...the film itself doesn't even play like a summer movie. It'd feel more at home in October/November.

Re: Friday Numbers
It had a really good CinemaScore and reviews though so I would expect it to hold up better. They should have just released it in August.

Re: Friday Numbers
Thinking $17.5m for Dunkirk, $8.2m for Girls Trip, and $5.3m for Valerian today.
Based on MT percentages, Dunkirk was strong during the day. Girls Trip was a lot weaker than yesterday but should pick up at night. Valerian was steady.

I'm seeing a lot of sellouts through social media aka Twiter. Bad Moms didn't even drop that hard. I'm thinking it'll be closer to $10m Saturday.

The percentage for Girls Trip went from 20.2% yesterday to 15.5% tonight. Pretty heavy drop. And I think GT plays to a more limited set of audience than Bad Moms.

Where my Bae Driver weekend number at? Its on track for $5.6M this weekend, a 35.7% drop. It'll be on track for $100M domestically. The competition for it should be quiet for the rest of the summer.

Best of luck to this movie. You might be right. Crunching the numbers, Dunkirk tonight retained 95% of its Friday night MT percentage. Valerian had a 90% retention. Girls Trip's retention rate was 75%. If I gave Dunkirk a 20% increase over its Friday-minus-previews number and Valerian 10% increase, a 5% decrease for Girls Trip would be more reasonable. So... $17.2m for Dunkirk, $9.5m for Girls Trip, and $5.3m for Valerian.
