Preacher (AMC)
This action-comedy-horror hybrid, based on the iconic Vertigo/DC comic and adapted by This Is the End duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, premieres on AMC on Sunday, May 22nd, following the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead.

Well I'm officially hooked. That pilot was awesome and I'm glad I didn't watch any trailers/clips for this in advance. I have no idea what to expect next with this show and that's very much a good thing. I've always liked Dominic Cooper as a character actor and so far he's pretty fantastic in this even with the forced Texas accent. There was so much set-up in that episode and surprisingly it all works. Love the Cassidy/Tulip characters already and I definitely got a Evil Dead vibe at times.

I liked the pilot. Cooper might be the weakest link so far acting wise (but I did like him nevertheless) , didn't really buy into him as a character. His sermon at the end should've been much better and more menacing and fierce I think.
I never read the comics so I have no idea what's it all about, but I like that it doesn't seem like there's clear cut good/evil thing going on. The vibe reminds me a little bit of Carnivale, which is a good thing.

LOL @ no new episode yesterday. WTF is that scheduling????
Used FTWD to promote the pilot episode, while typically nothing new airs around Memorial Day.

Re: Preacher (AMC)
This show got boring really fast. The story just beats around the bush. Tulip was badass in the pilot, but her story is so repetitive now. Find Jesse, try to talk him into coming with her, fail, repeat. It's still very atmospheric, but they need to step up the story pace IMHO.
Hopefully, this show has finally hit it's stride because tonight's episode was pretty awesome. Loved the opening fight in the motel and I didn't see that ending coming at all. This show has a great foreboding, atmosphere to it, but it needs more energetic/fun sequences like the motel fight and Cassidy's dynamic humor.

Yeah, this was best episode since pilot. It was funny, the story progressed a lot, everything was pretty damn goof. Except the abrupt ending. That was weird.

Another slightly boring-ish episode. Not bad though.
I really enjoyed the season finale, but the pacing needs to be better for Season 2. It felt like it took forever before things finally got interesting after that awesome pilot.

The finale was just like the whole season. Too many story lines, no payoffs. The whole God scene was a bit awkward. Looked more like a parody show than a serious show. They need to plan season 2 much better. At times watching paint dry was probably a better option than watching Preacher.

I was very impressed by the first season. The quirky charisma of the characters and the heavy Southern Gothic atmosphere compensated for any lax pacing. And in a way, I would rather it move slowly versus constantly climaxing and shifting gears the way, say, American Horror Story frequently does.

It seems improbable, but I hope Emily survived the explosion.

I loved the first season. My advantage was that I binged episodes 2-10 when they aired on Sunday, completing the season over the course of a few days. I don't know if maybe watching week to week would have ruined it a bit, but the binge definitely helped.

Anyone watching new season? This show has revamped itself a lot. A roadtrip grindhouse TV show is its new appropriate description and it's pushing that pedal to the metal as hard as it can. It's much funnier and not as deadly serious as the first season. It moves faster. To sum it up - I love it!
I definitely didn't expect this show to do a 180° turn on how it established itself in the first season.

I was pleasantly surprised how much more violent it got during the last episodes compared to season 1. Shame they killed off Fiore because I was really liking him during the last episode
