Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Apparently now tracking for a 65m debut. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-v ... _boxofficeIt will do better than that, I'd guess at least 80 million, but tracking that low at this point seems to point to sub 100m OW for sure

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
$65m feels way too low for a female-driven superhero movie that looks really entertaining. Its been consistently generating 25K daily tweets.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
If it does "only" $65m that would be disastrous regardless of the legs. I don't see it getting to $250m with that opening. It needs to have a minimum of $85m OW for a shot at $250m. The max legs for DCEU movies thus far have been 2.5 for MoS by that calculation it needs a $100m OW for $250m total.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Doctor Strange tracked at 50-75m.
This is still doing 100m opening *shrug*

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Oh well let's compare MCU movies from November with a DCEU summer blockbuster. BTW DS opened to $85m with a max tracking number of $75m which came at late release days. With that logic the max WW can do it $75m which is not quite $100m OW everyone is so sure of it.
The main problem I believe is that the action scenes look similar to BvS and MoS with dark backgrounds, not sure but maybe the general audience are also taking note of that.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
ok, how about this right before it's opening. Quote: As such look for 20th Century Fox’s R-Rated Marvel film Deadpool to shoot a Friday through Monday take between $60M-$65M at 3,557 theaters. That 4-day actually ended up being $152.1 million. Not saying Wonder Woman is going to blow expectations that much out of the water, especially since Deadpool is such an anomaly when it comes to appeal and marketing, but tracking and what not can be very bullish, which I feel will be the case with this. Female interest will push this.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Obviously, this is not a typical war film, but it's interesting there's been so few movies centered around WWI. Perhaps there's just not tremendous interest in that period of history even inside the superhero context? I wouldn't think that sentiment would reflect on the tracking because this is clearly a superhero film, not boots on the ground military warfare.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Tracking often takes into consideration precedent. Since the history of female led superhero films is full of nothing but disasters, I wouldn't doubt tracking firms are being more cautious than they really ought to be.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Is the film appealing to kids at all? That might be part of the low tracking. The family audience that will check out an MCU film or a film starring Batman or Superman might not be interested in this sort of dark looking World War I/sword and sandals hybrid.
The trailer did not get much of a reaction at either showing of Beauty and the Beast I went to. Young girls certainly don't seem too excited.

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Its a superhero movie and with a Woman. I am sure it has family appeal. The problem is to generate enough appeal among the crowd to see it in theaters.

I will be stunned if this makes less than $90m OW (and truthfully, maybe less than $100m).

Re: Wonder Woman predictions
Wouldn't it be good to have the WoM out for this earlier to generate more buzz? Having good reviews on its side will surely help it explode and I mean $150m+ opening.

I know that it isn't 2008 anymore, but the vibe machine did score a direct hit in 2015 with Jurassic World explosion

No need for that. WW's OW under $150m will prove my point.
