Still, I think there is a substantial fandom not directly connected to superhero movies as a whole. Good analysis. I have given up on Avengers/Capt America movies as they just don't appeal to me, plus I really regretted wasting my time on BvS, so I consider myself one of those people not especially connected to superhero movies. And I can't wait for Guardians 2! To me, it's not a superhero movie at all, despite be a Marvel property - it is a sci-fi/space opera - which is right in my wheelhouse.

Keyser Söze wrote: Way out. Around 350m. Its presales are well below Civil War. Plus I dont see this being all well received as 1st one. That also released in end of dead summer(did not even have a 250m grosser). This wasn't going to out-open CW. It will be more leggier. I think $120m-$135m is the best it can do over OW.

BTW this won't cross BatB for sure now and if it doesn't have great legs it might miss #1 of the summer as well.

When's the last time Disney failed?
This is going to breeze past $400m.

I would bet that this will cross the original but it looks like it won't do too much beyond that but I there is still a decent chance for $400m total IMO. Aside from R-rated Logan this is the first family-friendly superhero movie of the year.

They've gone and ruined my favorite Marvel franchise too. This is a movie that praises viewers for being cool enough to show up and then proceeds to insult them—but only ironically, see?

I swear there was a time when it wasn't painfully obvious you're Bradley Witherberry.

Re: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 2. $450m domestic club
Yeah this is a pretty big fail, but I do believe this had the potential if the marketing was stronger. Disney didn't hype this nearly as much as CW and it kind of suffered from that because it just looked like more of the same and not a MUST SEE/EVENT film. The lack of really enthusiastic reviews probably convinced some to wait as well even though they were still good.

Not sure on how big of a fail this is but I never saw increasing that much. The first already over-performed and while there was a room to grow I think the series is now settling into the MCU universe numbers again.
