Riverdale (CW)
Developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Big Love, Looking), this murder-mystery adaptation of the long-running Archie comic strip debuts on the CW on January 26th.
I might give it a shot. It is such a strange project (Archie adapted as a campy-soapy teenage Twin Peaks), which appeals to me.

Rewatched it. Yeah, this isn't that great. I may stick with it for a few episodes though. I'm surprised at the positive reviews, this is no different than "Gossip Girl" or the teen shows they used to do a few years ago.

I'm 15 minutes in and I'm so fucking distracted by the fake red hair. It's laughable.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
Very bland. Poor man's Veronica Mars. But I find it better (and certainly stylistically and atmospherically different) than Gossip Girl (or 90210 or Privileged or Melrose Place) as thompsoncory mentions.
It definitely fits more into the old WB/UPN mold than the Dawn Ostroff CW modern teen shit.

Second episode only solidified this as poor man's Veronica Mars.

I definitely think it's a poor man's Veronica Mars, but it's still fun. While at work Thursday I found myself excited to have a new one to watch that night.

The hot tub scene with Betty, Veronica and Chuck with the music from The Guest in the background was fucking awesome
This show is so bad but I'm enjoying it in a guilty pleasure way.

Yeah when that started playing I was like, "No fucking way! That's the music from The Guest."

I'm binging this on Netflix, on episode 6. So far... it's entertaining but almost everyone is unlikable, especially Archie surprisingly. I like Veronica, Jughead and Kevin though.

Oh this show is the fucking best. I got so hooked on it by the end
The party episode and the penultimate episode are just epic.
Also Lili Rinehart is going to be a huge star. She's got a great screen presence.

I need to finish Season 1 yet. But holy crap, somehow this show became a hit. I guess due to a lot of people catching it on Netflix over the summer. The Season 2 premiere scored 2.302 Million viewers without a lead-in.

Loved the premiere. It was so fun. Cheryl Blossom is iconic.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
I had only watched the first 9 episodes of Season 1. I almost didn't continue because I wasn't invested that much yet. But I heard it got better so I started it back up tonight, beginning with the party episode and yeah I'm pretty into it now. Ended up finishing Season 1 and watching the three episodes of Season 2 that have aired so far. Looking forward to the rest of the season.
I love Cheryl, Veronica, and Kevin. They are my favorite characters. Really liked the scene in the last episode between Kevin and Moose in the hospital. Archie and his whole vigilante storyline this season are annoying me. The end of episode 3 with the video was cringe-worthy.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
In the middle of Season 2 and really like this. I keep seeing CW-isms I'm supposed to be cynical about, but every character has a soul and you know what they're thinking without saying it always, and it's well directed. The Jason Blossom and Black Hood arcs were both epic. And now EVIL LONG LOST BROTHER... Yes!
Whoever was the casting agent for this killed it cause this is like a Kentucky basketball team that's loaded with lottery picks, I wouldn't be surprised if any of Lili Reinhart ( ), Camila Mendes, Madeleine Paestch, KJ Apa, Cole Sprouse become household names. Also like the parents stunt casting, Luke Perry was giving one of the best performances of his career. Skeet Ulrich is great too. The show is like a weird mix of modern day, 50s tropes from its source material, and 80s/90s nostalgia with its former teen actors and synth score that puts Stranger Things to shame
This is so good. I love every bit of it, I'm a little behind since this is on MExican NEtflix and they add the whole seasons one week before the next one premieres in the US, so I'm waiting on THAT EPIC AS FUCK cliffhanger that ended season3.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
It goes down in Season 4 but Season 2 is the best of the lot. I still don't think this comes close to narration and characters when in comparison to Stranger Things.

I watched like 3 episodes of Season 3 and gave up. It just got too stupid. I enjoyed Season 2 a lot though.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
Season 2 is at once completely nuts, but on the other hand, somehow everything has a payoff. What could have been some isolated plots like the foursome at the cabin, Cheryl being obsessed with Josie, the whole plot with the roofie guy and of course the snake charmer all had some impact one way or the other eventually down the road.

I'm binging season 4 now since this dropped on Netflix this week. It's fun so far, this show continues to be entertaining trash.

Re: Riverdale (CW)
After the main mystery is solved the final episodes are so crap. The whole Archie and Betty love story was NEVER explored in the series and not it just looks like they were out of material so shoehorned that. Also the main mystery with Jughead ended up in a dud, it was pretty much a given who was the culprit this time from the first few episodes and they handled the reveal of Jughead being alive very anti-climatically. Also in a season where a whole episode was dedicated where someone was dead, Jughead's departure was drastically muted brushing any doubts that the character is dead.
I might end up giving up on this series if it does not get better in Season 5.
