If The Amityville Horror makes $50 million opening weekend, I will do what you asked, which is to post at Rotten Tomatoes for one week, any thread or post you wanted posted. BUT, if The Amityville Horrror fails to reach $50 million on opening weekend, you have to not only change your signature to "I got PWNED by a stupid teenager over predicting a stupid PG-13 teen horror movie. The Ring Two owns!". This must be in regular (12 pt) font, and bold writing. AND, if if makes under $50 million, you have to stop writing in bold font for a week. Just regular writing like the rest of us. One week. Why did I add this? For one, I don't want our bet to be the exact same as everyone. And, since I'm willing to sacrifice my week to post things for you in other places, this seems to be fair that you actually match my side by doing something other than putting something in your signature.
If you're willing to accept, then game on. It's a bet.. =D>
 That's what I'll be doing after lightening strikes twice for me this weekend when this movie kicks all ass at the box office and I'm right TWICE in a row is:

You REALLY think this movie isn't going to ppen high huh?? Really?? Cause I'll tell you right now: At 75% FRESH and more positive reviews than negative and a better rating than both The Grudge and The RING and it'a lame sequel had, I'd say your highly clueless as to just how popular The Amityville Horror REALLY is.. Your going to be shocked with yuour jaw hanging this sunday nioght trying to figure out how the hell I called this TWICE in a row now.. I'm not changing my signature for ANYONE.. You'll be the one's apologizing to me for ever doubting that I knew what I was talking about.. I can't wait.. \:D/

BKB, what have been your past extremely confident predictions? I know you nailed the Ring Two, I was wondering if you got any other predictions. I actually think you may be going somewhere with your Amityville prediction.

I'll tell ya: I'll be the 1st to say that I suck when it comes to predicting box office.. I'm not good at it at all but I do have fun trying my hand at it.. I just can't explain WHY it is that I feel Amityville will become the highest grossing R-Rated Horror this year, but the reviews have ranged from Excellent to Good with minor quips to 2 negative reviews saying it was bad and only because the reviewers had a hardon about Ryan Reynolds and that it wasn't 100% accurate to the novel, but who really cares if it is or isn't?? I'm thinking very realistic here and saying that this movie is critic proof and that it's not gonna matter 1 bit.. Will see and as always, if I'm wrong?? Then I'll take it like a Man as I always do and change my signature.. It doesn't matter to me 1 way or another but I find it humorous how much controversy people like to throw in on this movie in an effort to put it down.. Unbelievable and quite funny....

After what happened with The Ring Two, I'm willing to believe just about anything BKB says.
I won't drop that bet (it's just to fun ), but I will not be completely shocked if this tops $35M.

After reading about the stories on the internet, I raised my predictions by a lot, this definitely has a shot at either $40 million or really good legs. Regardless of whether it's true or not the movie's going to be really good with that kind of storyline. I'm thinking $34 mil right now.
Edit: Is that Simpsons episode where the Flanders buy a house that had people murdered in it based on the Amityville story?

From Box Office Guru:
Weekend Box Office (April 15 - 17, 2005)
by Gitesh Pandya
THIS WEEKEND The horror remake bug strikes again as The Amityville Horror crashes into theaters across North America as the solo wide release during what should be another sluggish pre-summer box office frame. One of the final releases under the old MGM administration, the R-rated entry will try to mimic the successful formula used by 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and last spring's Dawn of the Dead which tapped into both older genre fans as well as young adults interested in a modern take on a familiar classic. Chainsaw opened to $28.1M on its way to $80.1M while Dawn bowed to $26.7M leading to a $58.9M final. As with most fright flicks, the two attracted a large share of their total audience on the opening weekend and fell sharply afterwards. Amityville should play out no different.
The new haunted house thriller stars Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder) and packs little starpower which is also common for the genre. The marketing campaign, which has been decent but not spectacular, has given the most play to action director Michael Bay who plays producer for Amityville as he did for Chainsaw. However, marketplace excitement for the Long Island-set pic does not compare to how fans felt about the previous two remakes and between 1970s gorefests and recent Asian chillers, horror fans are starting to get their fill of recycled material. Working in Amityville's favor is the fact that there are no other wide openings this weekend and that the recent flood of comedies and action movies has left a void with the horror crowd which has only had The Ring Two to enjoy during the last month and a half. Opening in over 3,000 theaters, The Amityville Horror might launch with around $20M this weekend which would be enough for the top spot.
After conquering music and fashion, hip hop mogul Damon Dash goes for the trifecta with his directorial debut State Property 2. The R-rated gang drama finds three Philadelphia dons battling over turf supremacy. Property opened on Wednesday in 202 theaters and should appeal mostly to urban audiences.
Also stepping behind the camera for the first time is X-Files star David Duchovny whose film House of D premieres in New York and Los Angeles with one exclusive venue in each industry town. Robin Williams stars along with Duchovny, Erykah Badu, and the director's wife Tea Leoni in this PG-13 entry which premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival.
With only one major player hitting the multiplexes, most holdovers in the top ten should not tumble by too much. The Matthew McConaughey adventure tale Sahara should see a reasonable 45% drop in its second weekend and might gross about $10M. That would give the Paramount release $34M in ten days.
Look for a similar 45% fall for the Miramax crime pic Sin City which may take in $8M putting its cume at $63M. Sophomore Fever Pitch could slide 40% in its second inning to about $7.5M leaving the Fox comedy with a ten-day cume of $23M.
No offense BKB, but you're really going to shit when this doesn't come even close to grossing 50 Million this weekend.
I should make a bet with you too - it would be an easy win ...

Uh Gee, 20 Million huh??? Sounds like Guru doesn't know what the fuck their talking about as usual and their hit to miss ratio on movies is sad to say the least.. If you put all your faith in this website known as Box Office Guru, then your going to lose like they will this weekend.. I think you and everyone else are going to shit when it turns out I'm right TWICE in a row and if I were you?? I'd think long and hard about that since both Box Office Mojo and Box Office Guru weren't exactly accurate in their predictions for the RING II and overprojected like everyone else did, except ME of course and look what happened?? It didn't even make anywhere near what a majority of the posters around the net, this site included, thought it would and much lower than most thought it would.. You want to bet me?? Then bet me, but think goddamn twice about it cause I do know what I'm talking about.. This is going to make ALOT of $$$ and be the highest grossing R-Rated Horror movie this year and the best all around.. The reviews don't lie and are alot higher than both The Grudge and the RING II were in the RT Meter Rating at 75% FRESH.. What was RING II?? 22% ROTTEN??

I agree on their Amityville Horror prediction, but I would go a tad bit higher. I'm predicting $28 million for this, and I think that is very excellent for this type of film.

That's excellent, but I'm telling ya, it's gonna be ALOT more than that$$$$... I just find it completely baffling why so many have doubts about what I'm predicting?? Folks, it's not impossible for it to happen you know.. It can happen and considering how I called the RING II right down to the "T" over everyone else, I'd put my $$$ on me possibly having lightening strike twice.. Will see..

But you had said THE RING 2 wouldn't make more than 30 Million or something so you were wrong too. You underpredicted. It ended up opening with more than 35 Million. If that's all THE RING 2 can muster up then THE AMITYVILLE HORROR won't be able to make that much. It's only 67% FRESH now with 6 positive and 3 negative reviews. And the fresh rating will eventually go down more. Reviews don't always mean something. It's how the movie looks. And while THE AMITYVILLE HORROR will do solid and could open around 30 Million, it won't come anywhere near 50 Million.
Also, I guess you don't pay much attention to how much Box Office Guru predicts for each movie because if you did you'd know that they predicted 36 Million for THE RING 2, which was pretty much dead-on. They didn't highly overpredict it. Your hit to miss ratio is much, much worse than theirs, no offense. Sure I think they'll be wrong on AMITYVILLE and it will make more than that, but they'll be closer with their prediction than you'll be with yours.
I can see now that once you end up being wrong on its opening you'll be saying it will have incredible legs though and will end up making 200 Million or better, being one of the highest grossers of the year .

Actually, BKB predicted a flat $35M opening. I was impressed. =D>
Oh wow, I guess I was wrong. Yes, that is impressive. But I just know he'll be wrong here .
