The Croods 2 predictions
Will it avoid the fate of Kung Fu Panda 2 and pull an Ice Age 2? Or maybe another Madagascar 2 (bigger opening, smaller total)? I'm definitely thinking increase right now.
I see it opening to $50-55 million and finishing with $195-215 million. The really big increase will happen overseas, where I expect a $500+ million gross.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
I am not sure the movie while good benefited immensely from the lack of competition. It could open less and I am sure the total will be lesser this time.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
I'm not saying this will pull a Despicable Me 2, but it is obvious that The Croods was quite well-liked too, so I believe a sequel can at least go above $200 million.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
The late legs for the original were quite good. I could see a higher opening this time though I still don't see a bigger increase maybe it will fall somewhere in Ice Age category.

Yeah, not sure how much market interest/demand there was for this.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
I liked the first film so its a shame they didnt make another. But it probably would have gone the way of KFP.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
I have no luck with Dreamworks making sequels to films that I actually like (The Croods, Puss in Boots), but I'd rather leave them at one entry if the follow-ups weren't coming together correctly.
Poor Cage, this was the closest thing he had to a franchise left.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
I actually watched this yesterday in TV. I was bored. So I really welcome the cancellation of the sequel. The less the crap the better.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
Just get Dragon 3 through production, DreamWorks. That's your only job.
Thankfully, Dragon 2's home video sales were strong, merchandise continues to sell well, and the Race to the Edge animated series has been successful (on its third season) post-Dragon 2, so there should be no doubt that Dragon 3 gets made... hopefully.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
This is miraculously back to life and dated for September 18th, 2020. 7.5 years between installments seems a bit much, Dreamworks. http://deadline.com/2017/09/croods-2-sp ... 202173063/

That is a long gap. I really enjoyed the original, though.

Re: The Croods 2 predictions
My oldest kid was finishing up preschool when the original opened and he'll entering 7th grade for the sequel. That's alarming in many ways.
