Shack wrote: I just think if a fetus has both brain waves and a heartbeat it's alive. That wouldn't eliminate all abortions but the cutoff would be about 6 weeks Even people who are pro-choice believe there should be limits on when the abortion should become illegal (except when the life of the mother is at stake). We're willing to debate when that should be based on current medical science. We're even willing to change that as science advances. It's a position based on facts and logic. Most of the anti-abortion people, however, believe that a collection of cells is a "baby" and have no interest in looking at facts. Usually, their belief is based in religion and they believe that since their god demands no abortions, any compromise on this issue is the same thing as letting the devil win. As long as people continue to allow their superstition to become part of our laws, the more we will fight them.

 Re: President Trump
Hiring Steve Bannon should send red blaring danger signs to everyone in America. I'm willing to give Trump "an open mind and the chance to lead," per Hillary, but hiring a white nationalist who hates Jews, women and any other group that is not white men is incredibly alarming and dangerous.
I'm just praying that he gets fired quickly. Like, Ivanka and co. got Corey Lewandowski fired during the campaign trail. They have to see that the reaction to Bannon is one of almost universal relusion. He's too extreme even for most Republicans. I do not want someone with such disgusting ideology anywhere near the presidency.

 Re: President Trump
I actually wondered that, if Trump is treating this like a season of Celebrity Apprentice. Get some decent people, get some fucking whackjobs, and every so often, he can whip out his trademark "You're fired" for old time's sake.
Although I think the biggest reason why he would hire anyone is if they feed into his ego. Look how quickly his opinion changed of Obama and Hillary. As soon as they said nice things, even through gritted teeth, he was suddenly in love with them. Everything is based on whether people compliment him.

It hasn't been mentioned, but what probably bothers me most is this. WTF do you mean with "I can even understand"?! Because it is such a stretch to be understood and not something that is common fucking sense?

John Bolton who is one the most pro-bomb and reset the map in the Middle East, Obama is being a pussy in the Ukraine situation, has literally wrote an article saying to bomb Iran etc. neocons around is rumored to be frontrunner for Secretary of State. This is getting real/scary.

How about people on the left that want to ban guns based on appearance rather than capability? I.e., a sem-automatic AR-15 with a foreward grip is illegal but a semi-automatic AR-15 without is legal under some post Sandy Hook laws. Seems those are laws based on superstition and what one perceives as scary. Also anti-gmo laws. Especially ripe when the same people worry about global warming yet refuse crops modified to be drought resistant.

Semi-Automatic rifles should be illegal.

You don't get to define the word "superstition" to mean whatever you want it to mean. The gun laws are all screwed up, but sometimes you pass whatever you can to make a dent into the problem. If you want, I can provide a hundred other examples of laws that are internally inconsistent. I do this for a living, you know. As for GMOs, I agree -- denying science isn't limited to the religious or conservatives. I've blogged about that very issue many times. https://ventrellaquest.com/2015/04/14/gmos-are-evil-is-the-lefts-version-of-there-is-no-climate-change/

The left also pushes the anti-vaccine movement more than the right. Sometimes anyone can be stupid!
