I think I would need at least a 90% chance to take that gamble. 1. $500K just holds a lot of value for me right now. 2. I couldn't stand myself if I wouldn't win it and don't believe in my chances at anything less than 9 out of 10.

But with this one that's part of the choice, so the ultimatum does not work. It is simply "would you kill your mother if you had to?", and if you answer "no", you die. There is no "would you rather". Come on, Lecter, you can produce better that this.
