SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club (SPLAT)
Man, I'm really feeling an itch to create clubs lately.
Spider-Man is awesome in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Crowds will -- and have -- go nuts for him, so much so that I think the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN films are immediately wiped from the conversation when it comes to the new film's potential.
We know it'll be big, but I think it will set the opening weekend record for a Spidey film.
Plus that Tony Stark guy's in it. That could help.

This seems obvious. SM3 adjusts to 188 million.

Spider-Man fatigue will always be a factor.

It certainly worked prior to it's opening, of course. Spider-man 1 and 2 were near all time high admissions openers in their day.

Let me just remind you that most of The Dork Shape's predictions turn out to be wrong.

Spider-Man isn't in his "day" anymore. Neither was Batman, maybe CW will be its BB to bring the full audience back. Add Iron Man, it's a clear winner.

It's "obvious" and a "clear winner". Let's return to this when it performs below TDS's expectations and see how "obvious" it was then.

Maybe, I'd need to see a trailer first. And Civil War's final box office.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club
Two Spider-Man films have broken the opening weekend record and had Spider-Man 2 opened on a Friday, it would have smashed the record as well.
A $151 million opening next year most likely means "only" the 9th-biggest opening weekend ever for a comic book adaptation (assuming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 goes higher). So, in fact, this seems a tad low. I'm thinking $170+ million.

Re: SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING >$151m OW Club
I'm not convinced GOTG2 blows up. Everybody thought Iron Man 2 would do the same and it didn't come close. That seems like a clear 125ish opener. The Dark Shape wrote: Dr. Lecter wrote: So, in fact, this seems a tad low. I'm thinking that myself. Hmm... Eh...I am comfortable saying it tops $150m, but where it goes from there will depend on a few things. For starters, Iron Man/RDJ saturation is going to kick in at some point. Just has to. That said, clearly I have lost my touch here, as CW opening above AOU defines all reasonable common sense, reviews/WOM aside.
