 Predict National Treasure
It looks like it will be a breakout hit to me. While it may be formulaic and all, it has an appealing cast, great ads, a general sense of being a fun romp.
35/120 - higher than normal multiplier because thanksgiving is coming a week after it opens and that should keep it from falling much.
How say you all?

You can find out more (trailer, synopsis etc) here: National Treasure's comingsoon.net page
I am expecting Alexander to underperform so that should help NT some.

I really don't see the attraction to this, and when i seen the trailer, it was laughable. So. yuk.

160 million marketing is just plain stupid. Why in the world would they put so much money into.. Nicolas Cage? Not that he's bad or anything, but he's not that big of a name.

A massive waste of Disney's money.

At first I thought this movie was a complete piece of crap. Then I started seeing the ads on tv and it really got to me. I really wanna see this movie now.

"To launch "Treasure," Disney has amassed the largest war chest of promotional dollars in its history for a live-action film thanks to advertising giants Visa, Verizon Wireless and McDonald's as well as eight other partners expected to back the movie' s release with an estimated $160 million of marketing support."
That isn't them saying they spent 160m on advertising, is it? It seems they are saying they made deals with corporate tie-ins, the total value of which is about 160m. Probably some of that money went to the studio, not just from it?

Yup. Disney will spend $50m of its own, the other $110m being courtesy tie-ins (McD's, etc.).
This is a win-win situation for them, since they do actually get paid millions in royalties, etc.
A lot of people might not know this, but in all likelihood, after a few weeks, both National Treasure and The Incredibles ($200m ad campaign) will start bringing in profits without having to be mega-hits.
As for National Treasure, I expect a nice opening and good holds, $35m/$110m

This is going to be an interesting film to predict. I fear it may do poorly, but the advertising and the family-freindly nature should allow it to do fairly well.
My predictions: Opening -- $41 million
Total -- $150 million

This is being very overpredicted. Just because it has a huge marketing campaign doesn't mean that it's a guaranteed $100 million movie. Big price tags do not equal big hits all the time. I have doubts that this will hit $100 million, but it may. But, I'm almost positive that it will not have a weekend over $30 million.

I see National Treasure being a hit, because a movie like it has not come out in a while, that being a treasuer hunter movie. I am getting a very large Indiana Jones feel from this movie, and it has a holiday for its second weekend...so naturally it will have a decent drop. Finally, I have always liked Nicolas Cage...so I am naturally going to predict this movie high
Opening- 28
Total- 104

Those seem to be good predictions. I'm really not sure, as I stated. There are just so many films in that time, that one is definately going to fail.

I reckon this one will be a hit, with a relatively small opening but good legs over christmas.

Reviews so far are only decent. Seems a lot of reviewers see this as an "Americanized" version of The Da Vinci Code.
