 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
There was so much I didn't like about this. It's too glossy, there are too many stunt guest stars (Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas? Really?), and Ryan Murphy's style does not agree with me. For someone so immersed in the horror genre, I can't tell if he's paying homage or ripping the genre apart. Sometimes it feels like a spooky tip of the hat to the best slasher flicks. Other times it's a mess that any true horror fan would scoff at in seconds.
But... I really enjoyed myself too. It's a bizarre mess but I want to keep watching. And Emma Roberts is fantastic, something I haven't said before. The series does take glee (no pun intended) in its own campy fun. And I just generally like the idea of a series whose cast is largely women.
Unfortunately, it doesn't give anthology horror a good name. I would love to see a good anthology series take off, either as a "story a season" type deal, or a "new story every episode" deal like Twilight Zone.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
This had a major bump in the ratings with delayed viewing and streaming numbers. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/ryan-mu ... 201603541/

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
I'm conflicted on that. Overnights are everything. If we start going by other data, how far out can we go? Is it reasonable for a network to keep shows a lot longer in case they find an audience months down the road? Ryan Murphy of course is pushing hard for this to spin the ratings in his favor. If initial numbers were better, we wouldn't hear a peep from him about these extra pieces of data.
But. The overnight system is obviously flawed and antiquated. I don't watch anything live anymore. I watched Scream Queens today, a full five days after initial airing. That's why 18-49 demos have dropped so hard. No one under 50 watches anything live. That system is for older audiences or audiences who just don't embrace technology. So of course Scream Queens would crash and burn with an audience over 50. They won't watch Scream Queens.
Can they measure which shows are recorded? That seems to be the best bet and should be something Nielsen looks into in the future. It kind of explains why so many shows are getting revived after cancellation. The audience was there all along, they just don't watch these shows live anymore.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
I finally got around to watching the premiere. While it's not perfect I still quite enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next episode. And thank you Ryan Murphy for that funny/hot scene of Nick Jonas working out. I was so pissed when he died but was very happy when he ended up still being alive in the end. This also has a fun soundtrack.

OK, I officially love this show. Tonight's episode was absolutely hilarious. That entire Backstreet Boys scene as well as Billie Lourd's big reveal was amazing. As was Lea's makeover.
I 100% think Nasim Pedrad is going to be the "final girl." She's my favorite character.

Also, the entire joke about how far Grace was traveling to get information, and Chanel and Chad breaking up again, and Jamie Lee's sound machine. Amazing. This is so fucking fun.

That Backstreet Boys scene completely sold me on what the tone of this show was supposed to be. It's just such a blast. I can't wait for next week.

The BSB scene is legit one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life

I guess I missed something, that scene wasn't funny to me. I like several of the characters but I think I liked the first 2 episodes (as messy as those were) more than this one.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
Things that were great in this episode: -The Backstreet Boys montage killed me. -Coney the Mascot's voice over before being mowed down by a chainsaw. -Everything Niecy Nash said and did ("person of extreme murderous interest") and her perfect accusation of Zayday. Denise Hemphill is simultaneously the smartest and dumbest character on this show. -Heathers callback when "Que Sera Sera" plays as Hester rifles through Chanel's closet. -The super weird Jamie Lee Curtis/Nasim Pedrad scene with the "white noise" of whale cries and slasher movie noises. I definitely agree with TC and feel like Gigi is going to end up being one of the "final girls."
Things that need work: -The Grace/Pete scenes. I'm yawning. -Abigail Breslin's entirely wooden performance. Gurl, you are an Academy Award nominee. Try harder!
So, overall, much more good than bad. I think I'm strapped in for the absurdity of this show.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
LOVED this episode. Chad Radwell... you glorious son of a bitch. So funny! The Coney scene reminded me of Goodfellas and his death was great.
Big ups to Oliver Hudson too. On paper I usually would hate that character, but once he put on Texas Chainsaw and got all creepy, thumbs up. Can't wait for more!

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
Abigail Breslin is a major liability to the show, but it doesn't shock me. Her last movie I've liked was Zombieland, but she was easily the weak link in a strong cast. Quite a few here, especially Emma Roberts, Niecy Nash and Lea Michele, get what Ryan Murphy is going for, but she's playing it a little too straight.

Another super fun episode. I hope Zayday isn't dead. Also Lea Michele is hilarious. The scene with her and Chad in the haunted house was amazing. Also Chanel-o-ween

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
It's official. This show is awesome. I think last night's episode was probably the best yet. So much hilarity. The opening with Chanel-o-Ween was great. And I loved the cafeteria scene. That might be my favorite of the episode.
And I cannot state this enough but the music on this show rocks. "Mad About You" during the cafeteria scene was great. But I was even more pleased to hear "Eyes Without A Face" at the haunted house.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
Gah I love this show! Episode was great!
Few things: Chad is the best. I love the guy. Absolutely hilarious. Pete's McConaughey was spot on and awesome. Oliver Hudson continues to be a delight. As is Niecy Nash. Breslin is the worst and I need more Carrie Fisher Jr. in my life And I have no friggin clue who the killer is at this point. Not even a good guess.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
I don't know how they are going to make who the killer is a mystery for anywhere close to a full season. It's only been 5 episodes and I'm already ready to throw something at the TV in frustration.

 Re: "Scream Queens" (Season 1)
This episode wasn't quite as good as last week's. There were less memorable bits. But it's still a wickedly weird and hilarious show that's destined for cult status. I love it! I like it more than American Horror Story. FX is going to do a marathon of the first 6 episodes Halloween night. Not like most people will be home to watch it. Not only is it Halloween but it's also a Saturday. http://thefutoncritic.com/news/2015/10/ ... 51013fx01/
