 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
It looks fun in a gung-ho, "yee-haw", gun-toting way, but I wish they'd just leave this series alone. The more and more they pound away at the same story, with different versions of lame jokes and lame one-liners, it will erode any semblance of integrity that this franchise had. That's precisely what is happening with the Terminator franchise right now.

That's precisely what is happening with the Terminator franchise right now. Aren't you the Rocky fan? Don't get me wrong, I think Creed looks good, but it looks to tread similar ground. Besides, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness were always cheesy and never serious and never aspired to the level of a Terminator 2.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
Not every franchise plays by the same rules. A boxing drama with themes such as the underdog's story or the protégé/trainer dynamic are universal and transcend eras. However, slapstick-gore and comedic horror, all with the same brand of Raimi craziness, isn't going to be looked on in the same way 30+ years after the originals. I'm sure fans will like it, but seeing more and more of something usually taints the general reception to the franchise as a whole unless there are differences with each instalment, which there doesn't seem to be with Ash vs. Evil Dead.
The Terminator franchise is different again, but when I compared it before on a very shallow level, it provided a nice example for me to show what I meant.

That looks awesome, I originally a series over a film was bad, but now I'm totally on board. It's like the awful remake never happenned

Yep, I'm all in too. I'm not that big on the Evil Dead franchise, but this looks great.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
I'd be more excited if Jane Levy was involved. I'm still pissed we won't get a proper sequel to the reboot, especially since from what I understand the plan was to have her meet Ash. She was an amazing final girl.

The further they get away from that awful remake, the better.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
The remake is pure torture porn and doesn't fit in with Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Yes I know Evil Dead 1 was brutal in its day and not funny.

A very solid remake. I liked it more than any of the original series but it was definitely missing a sense of fun. A little too serious. Still wanted a direct sequel with Levy returning.

Fantastic premiere. Hilarious, a bit creepy, nostalgic, swiftly paced, violent, etc., with Bruce Campbell flashily and comfortably reviving his signature character after two decades. The jury may still be out regarding future episodes, ones not benefiting from maximum novelty and also not directed by Sam Raimi, but I am excited.

I was giddy like a schoolgirl, watching the episode.

So much fun. Hopefully the whole series is just as good. So far a worthy revival.

The pilot was highly entertaining. A good amount of it was pretty suspenseful as well.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
Now I may not be very knowledeable about US TV, but isn't it unusual for a series like this (somewhat of an event) to air on Saturdays? I was always under the impression that no big series ever air on Saturdays. I get that the first aiing on Halloween was perfect, but after that...

Starz and Cinemax always air their shows either on friday or saturday. Some were pretty successful like Spartacus and Banshee. Sunday belongs to Showtime, AMC, and HBO while the weekdays belong to FX and AMC at times.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
Yeah, every single Starz show typically airs on Saturday nights, even "Outlander" which is their buzziest original series.

Okay. When will the numbers for Ash be released?

Dr. Lecter wrote: Okay. When will the numbers for Ash be released? Probably in a day or two. It takes a little longer for cable to report. They probably won't be insanely high as "Outlander" only averages around 1 Million per week on a good week, but I'm sure a ton of people will be watching on demand.

 Re: Ash vs. Evil Dead
I don't expect much for the first episode's ratings since most adults either are taking their kids trick r treating or attending a Halloween party. Since the episode I heard was already up for download on friday, I think the download numbers should be very high especially since the Raimi Evil Dead franchise has always appealed to the geek crowd
