The pope's death hurt Sin City? C'mon man, now I NOW you're messin with me. How many people would honestly think about seeing "Sin City" and hold off because the Pope died? But yeah, I'd agree that the Final Four killed Sin City's weekend multiplier.

LOL! I know! That's crazy. "I was going to see Sin City on Saturday but the Pope died and I was too depressed to do anything" .
It was heavily frontloaded. It was obvious it would drop for sure on Saturday after the large amount it grossed on Friday.

Even though I wasn't expecting such a drop on Saturday, I still didn't think it would actually cross $30 million for the weekend.

Yeah, but when you consider it only cost 40 Million to make, it was a bonafide success and will easily make it's $$$ back...

No question there. It is a pity I didn't think the movie was "all that".

It really wasn't all that and I think the 2nd weekend will reflect just that, especially when you consider how many adults walked out of this midway through the movie expecting this to be something that it wasn't.. I think the folks who walked out of this were mislead somewhere along the line..

I think it will just make it, roughly:
Current total $96,748,000
This week Mon-Thu $800,000 (~$200,000 per day) Total $97,548,000
Next Weekend 40% drop to $931,800 making the total $98,479,000
Weekdays $400,000 (~$100,000 per day) Total $98,879,000
Weekend %40 drop to $559,080 Total ~ $99,438,080
Weekdays $200,000 ($50,000 per day) Total $99,638,080
Weekend %40 drop $335,400 Total ~ $100,000,000
Even with 50% drops each weekend it looks like it will make it within 3-4 weeks. Then it'll hit the dollar theatres and make a bit more. I have a feeling the studio will make sure it goes over $100million.

I think Beauty Shop's opening guarantees that Queen Latifah is NOT the huge movie star everyone is saying she is.

Funny when the Pope dies, the number 1 movie is called SIN city. Mahah. Nah ok not really.
Anyway. Who knows how hard SIN CITY is going to drop. But i expect FEVER PITCH to be a hit at Number 1 next weekend.

Actually Beauty Shop did better than expected. It will hold up very well in its run, and it should be a good hit for her.
