Post The Legend Of Korra Final Season
I know there are some other fans out there. SPOILERS AHEAD

After a not as great second season, Korra has rebounded big this year. Changes was the best season yet, and Balance is shaping up to be just as good. What has helped, I think, is blending it's style with the original series in terms of continuity. Spirits was pretty much a plot reset, while the events of Changes were a direct result of what Korra did in the season 2 finale. That has continued this year, even while skipping ahead a few years, chronicling Korra's PTSD and the power vacuum left by the Earth Queen's assassination. I liked where its headed, and am also hopeful that we'll finally get to see the Fire Nation.

Even though it seems like Nick has turned its back on the show, I think the positive reception to the final year will turn them around in a desperate time. I don't think we're done with Avatar universe. It's just a matter of going backwards or forwards. How much of Aang's past is revealed will determine a lot.

100% agreed, loved season 3, and season 4 is shaping up to easily be the best. Season 2 was straight up bad, but it had moments.

Yeah Season 2 at least gave us Varric. I like how the clip episode even acknowledged that Uniloch was a bad villain, and it took Korra so long to figure him out.

Season 4 has been incredible. The action, adventure and comedy have been top notch, as expected. The dramatic beats have been even better than expected. I loved the scene where she visits Zahir in prison.

Season 2 just kinda dragged every other episode or so, but I still enjoyed it. The two episodes dedicated to Avatar Wan were two of the best in the entire series (including The Last Airbender) in my opinion. Sometimes I'll just rewatch those two episodes by themselves, though I rewatch all of The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra pretty frequently.

I ordered Season 3 today and can't wait to watch it this weekend.

In a vast ocean of shit animated shows on Nick and Cartoon Network these days, Korra stands head and shoulders above the crop. It feels like cartoons have degraded in a severe way (voice work, animation, staging, direction, etc.) on these networks. Honestly, even My Little Pony puts most of them to shame.

And if you guys haven't, you should read the graphic novels/comics for Avatar. I finished The Search (story about Zuko's mother) a couple months back and it was brilliant. All of the books I've read so far have been great.

Loved the finale. So much perfection in the final battle with Kuveera.

Spoiler: show
I definitely didn't see the end coming, although I'm fine with the idea. I'm not sure they earned it though, was there foreshadowing I missed? I know they had a strong bond, somehow surviving Korra stealing Asami's boyfriend ... twice. And I knew Mako was out of the picture, poor guy is gonna flip when he finds out. I just didn't see any romantic undertones, as it seemed like Varric and Zhu Li were being pushed as the big will they/won't they couple. I almost feel like we missed a seasons worth of build with that relationship lol.

That and the fart joke aside, the best way they could have ended it. Taking down that Jaegar was just as epic as the battle with the fire nation.

I guess there were more changes going on in Book 3 than I originally noticed. BADABOOM that's an original.

Now that I'm thinking back, they did spend a lot of time alone in that season. And then was Korra was away, Asami was the only one she felt comfortable contacting. At the time I just chalked that up to chicks being chicks but clearly it had a lot more importance.

I don't want to take away from the rest of the finale by talking about that too much though. I would feel the same the way no matter how it ended. It brought the perfect amount of action, adventure, heart and comedy that makes this series so great. The stakes weren't as high as The Last Airbender, but it was just the right amount of danger and personal conflict.

Oh and

Spoiler: show
I kinda feel like Mako was supposed to die, but then it got vetoed. They were teasing it throughout the entire finale and then he even got his awesome sacrifice moment. I'm not saying Mako should have died, but it would have made sense if he did. Then the shared grief would have also made the last scene seem less #Outtaknowhere.

They say if you watch the final two seasons back you will be able to pick it up. If you got the time, I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts, knowing whats coming from the very beginning. Personally I thought Korra was going to end up with no one, as it seemed like she had evolved beyond her would-be romantic partner. That being said, two girls fighting over the same guy and eventually ending up with each other is actually a great love story, and very unique.

Compare it to the original series, which starting building the romance in the opening moments of the first episode. Katara was a tease for most of the series, but we knew that she and Aang would win up together in the end. In this series this was no clear reward for Korra at the end, so I am actually glad they went this way. Otherwise it would just be on to the next villain.

Honestly, I went "Leeesbiaaaaaans!" when it came to Korra and Asami well before the end of this season, even before the last two seasons where it was more obvious. The last season especially, I felt like if there was any romantic end-game for Korra that it would have to be Asami to make sense. Just the fact that she wrote to Asami during her three year absence when she didn't write to either Mako or Bolin was a hint, and the way she blushed when Asami told her she liked her haircut just sealed the deal for me. It wasn't a major, major, major sign, but it's one that's been used in the series before (like Opal with Bolin) to show one person likes another.
