 Re: Hong Kong Protests
Huh? The protester was arrested at the time, handcuffed, grabbed by arms and legs. Standard police protocol called for the arrested to be put on a police car and transferred to a police station. What those policemen did was against the protocol and constituted torture.
The majority of HK media is pro-establishment. Many have been bought out by business tycoons with close ties with Beijing. Only a few are insistent on reporting the facts and exposing the wrongs of the government. Rightfully they are rewarded with increased readership and viewership.
The government has been dodging the question of what triggered the protests. Why reneging on the promise of universal suffrage? Why infringing on an individual's right to run for office? Why not letting voters have a say in choosing who they vote for? Why keeping the political camp with majority support from getting on the ballot? If these political questions are not answered through constructive dialogue and sincere response from the government, the protests will not go away.

Re: Hong Kong Protests - Day 21
Talk between key government officials and univ. student leaders has been scheduled for Tuesday, 6-8pm HKT. It will be in the debate format and televised live. Should be interesting to see if either side can sway public opinion.

Photos: KZBingsutt fb Taipei hosts Hong Kong today in East Asia Cup qualification round. Soccer fans in Taiwan really make HK team feel like home. Maybe Hong Kong does belong to China, Republic of China (aka Taiwan).
