 Re: Friday Numbers
Wick's ratio makes no sense. It didn't skew young at all.

 Re: Friday Numbers
This is the second week in a row where a movie targeting adult males has had a mediocre preview to opening day ratio. I wonder if we are seeing a shift in viewer habits. It has been over two years since Aurora, maybe people are no longer afraid to go to late movies. Bring midnights back! The people are ready.
That's pretty awful for St. Vincent I think. One could say "well it's not really a comedy", but neither was Tammy and that had a significantly better opening .. without Bill Murray.

 Re: Friday Numbers
For a movie whose existence was unknown only a month ago, Citizenfour looks to have a solid opening. BO.com's guesstimates for the Top 11 add up to $99.24 million, which I think is pretty impressive. By the end of the weekend it should be at or very near the record for largest October ever, with a few days to spare. Also, BOM numbers. Great expansion for Birdman, should break $30k PTA for the weekend.

McCarthy wasn't sold as her typical comedic persona though, and was presented as the straight woman of the movie. I think that hurts her drawing power a lot. Legs should be solid though, so I think it can finished with around $30 million, which is good for the Weinsteins (who have been having a rather crappy year).

 Re: Friday Numbers
Yeah people like to see McCarthy being over-the-top and loud. This isn't the kind of role she sells in. Tammy was sold like that.
I wonder why nobody is reporting on Dear White People.

 Re: Friday Numbers
Glad to see Laggies got off to a solid start. 31,800 from 6 theaters for a $5,300 average. Might have what, an $18,000 average for the weekend?
