Vince Gilligan admits to second thoughts about Better Call Saul.

Fuck, I hope not. Honestly all I'm expecting is a light-hearted spinoff of a fun character. If they're trying for this to be another Breaking Bad, they will fail.

Huh? He said history could one day say it was a bad idea, not that he's personally having second thoughts.

Details!

Did you ask him how he felt to get knocked off between episodes?

He said he always felt that once Hank and Gomez got closer to Walt that it'd be the end for both. He new that they would confront Walt before the end of the series and that there was no way they would prevail over Walt at that point.

However, he didn't know when he would die. He said, Vince Gilligan called him the day before he got the scripts for "To Hajilee" and "Ozymandias", which he apparently has never done before. Gilligan called him and thanked him for all the work he has done and for the great ride and finished the speech with "It is time, Steven". And he replied: "Yeah, I know".

Also, in his opinion, Walt has been evil all the time, from the very first episode on and just surpressed it all. It was not as much a development of the character and releasing what has always been inside him out in the open.

We talked about some other stuff and it sounds likely that he might appear in the second season of "Better Call Saul".

Also, Gomez was supposed to die in the first season along with Jesse. I knew about Jesse, but didn't know about Gomez. What a different show it would have been had the two been killed off so early.

eh Gomez is kinda replaceable. just give Hank a new sidekick.

Yeah, but it is more about the overall effect that the series apparently planned to massacre quite a few characters in the beginning already.

Gomez was replaceable early on, but he became a fixture by Season 5. Despite getting killed off-screen, his death was still a fairly major one towards the end, only overshadowed by Hank's.

Really cool Lecter, very interesting stuff. I watched him on Talking Bad and like most involved with the show, he seemed as invested as the fans and had a lot to say.
