Through all of the good and all of the bad, I still love this show. I'm not ready to say goodbye at all.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Well I liked the last episode and this season as a whole. The guy playing Hoyt gave an awesome performance in that episode and I'm feeling Jessica-Hoyt now.
The Lettie Mae stuff, whatever. Really makes me wonder why they didn't just kill Lettie Mae and have Tara, Lafayette and James track down her spirit while they have a bisexual love triangle. Unless that's exactly what they wrote and Rutina asked for too much money for the final season *shrug*
Also tip my hat to them for mostly walking away from the table on Sam this season, so glad there hasn't been 10 minutes an episode dedicated to him and Nicole and angry Shreveportians

Tara was killed off-screen and Sam left Bon Temps in a flashback.
The writing on this show is very special.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
That was a fantastic episode. Great one liners too.
I am incredibly saddened there is only one episode left.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
It was a bad episode I thought it was hilarious that Sam was written off that quickly. On the plus side, this actually felt like they were trying to wrap things up. SO excited to be done with this mess in a week!

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Sam's end is rather ignoble considering how significant a character he once was...BUT he has bored me for a while, so I cannot say I am upset he received a very brief farewell.
In general, I found the penultimate episode pleasant, if unspectacular. Lots of nice small moments. A few potent laughs.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Other than the hysterical Ginger/Eric sex scene, Bill getting slapped a bunch of times, and some good lines from Pam ("twat lips"), this episode was seriously Trying It in pointlessness.
I am so ready for the series finale.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
It wasn't a perfect finale by any means but I walked away feeling incredibly satisfied and I thought they tied everything up really well. The people screaming that it is the worst series finale ever are fooling themselves, I thought it was pretty damn good.
It did take a little while to get going and there was so much foreshadowing going on that it became a little annoying but there were some really great moments.
And then Sookie staking Bill. Speechless. I couldn't believe the writers did it. Also loved Sarah's ending and the Eric/Pam infomercial. The final moments at Thanksgiving were wonderful. We don't need to know this guy that Sookie ended up with. She is happy.
I will miss you, True Blood.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Our long national nightmare is over: True Blood is done FOREVER. Run, everyone! You're free!
I guess this finale wasn't as awful as it could have been, but it sure wasn't very good. I liked that Eric and Pam became billionaires because duh. I also loved that Beeeel turned into a pile of goo as I hoped (I just wish that happened a few years ago). It's just funny that after all that hand wringing and the entire show being dictated by Sookie's love life, she ends up with some rando who we don't even see. I mean, I get what they were going for but I still thought it was more funny than anything else. Classic True Blood.

It should have ended after the cemetery scene.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Eric and Pam's ending let me down. He is just placidly on his throne again, and their nights revolve around small-minded torturing of Sarah, a character I felt a bit bad for despite her unethical actions in past seasons. I would have rather left Eric and Pam in a more...adventurous, fun, sexy context, maybe living and indulging themselves in Europe.
On another note, a question for people with a more encyclopedic knowledge of True Blood lore: what was the fate of the were-panthers from a few seasons ago? The Deliverance-esque bunch in the forest. Did they leave town?

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I thought it was a great finale. The Bill and Sookie graveyard scene was one of the show's best, plus the final montage at Thanksgiving was really good, Eric got to be a G. Not going to ask for more than that.

As with everything on True Blood, pretty sure the writers stopped giving a fuck years ago and didn't have a clear explanation or any kind of rationale.

Ha, indeed. If I remember correctly, they even indicated for a while Jason would become one after they abducted and had their way with him.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I just watched it and it was fine. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible. Certainly not deserving of the massive vitriol I've seen written about it today. It was slow and parts were boring but it had its moments. Some scenes were really good (the staking scene was definitely the highlight) and it did offer a nice amount of closure. Though literally no Lafayette in the episode? What the fuck show?

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Pretty satisfying end to a very good season. I do wish Sookie and Bill talked about her reading his thoughts. I thought for a second that her sacrificing her light was going to make him human and that would have been an epic end. While some plots with characters from just a few episode ago seemed a little forced, it was a solid ending.
So many characters, I'm surprised it ended as good as it did.
Here's to the hopeful beginning a spinoff New Blood of just Eric and Pam!

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
The YouTube guy spoiling plot points after getting fired from the set was claiming months ago the end was Bill would turn human after the light hit him and he'd be Sookie's babies father. He got basically everything else right during the season, so they probably had two endings or changed it late

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I liked the finale. I think it's nice they tried to do more of a character drama final season. Did they succeed completely? No. Did they fail miserably? No. They kinda got it right I think.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I would have admired the Bill-dying-because-immortality-is-ultimately-exhausting storyline much more if they did not include him (rather monstrously) requesting Sookie pull the proverbial trigger.
