True Blood - The Final Season!
I started watching the series from the beginning last week and I'm already in the middle of the third season. It's ridiculous, it has literally been the only thing I've been watching. I've always been a big fan of the show. I remember watching the first season on DVD with my best friend and they we would have Sunday night viewing parties for season 2. I lost track in the middle of season 3 and never finished it, but I did watch season 4, which I thought was better than what I saw of season 3. Season 5 was nearly unwatchable though, and I only saw the premiere of the last season.
So I wanted to start it from the beginning so I could refresh my memory and see the episodes I haven't seen so I can watch the final season. Hopefully the wrap everything up nicely and is good. I've heard decent things about season 6, so I'm excited to get to that.
I forgot how good those first two seasons were... So fucking good.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I would care if the show kept up momentum. Seasons 1, 2 and 4 were good. Season 3 was OK. Season 5 and 6 SUCKED.
I'll watch, but I'm happy it's ending

It reached its peak early, the second and the third seasons were best and the only ones I would call "really good". Then witches, fairies, fire demons, ghosts and were-fucking-panthers came.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I remember really not liking season 3. I never even finished it because I was so bored. I don't know what I was smoking because it is awesome. Tons of fun. The episode where Tara and Sookie had to escape was intense. I haw like three episodes left and I will finish it tonight.
That said, I thought season 4 was awesome too.

S3 is awesome because Russell Edgington is awesome. Basically, S2 and S3 are the best because their villains rock.

Season 4 is easily the best. 3 has a great villain but is never very interesting, and 2 starts off well and goes to shit in the back half. 4 is the most consistently good, hence it's the best.

Season 4 had werepanthers. That automatically disqualifies it from being the best season.
And S2 actually keeps getting better as it goes on.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I agree that season 2 got better as it went on but the finale was ultimately disappointing.
It is funny how different peoples opinions are in the show. Some people think it has been the same quality wise throughout all of the seasons, some hate season 5 and thought I was on watchable, some thought it was the best season. Just was interesting to me.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
The second season definitely builds perfectly and becomes extremely intense, but the finale is deflating rather than rousing.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I just finished the third season. I thought it slowed down quite a bit in the second half of the season, but it was still entertaining. I'd rate the seasons like this...
Season 1: A- Season 2: A- Season 3: B+

I completely lost interest in Season 2 by the third mass orgy.

True Blood is on the whole a better than average show (but barely better than average), however its weakest plots may be the worst used minutes on cable. Stuff like the were-panthers, Sam's brother and Alcide's clan of werewolves is truly dreadful. It has the fattest ass on television

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I am halfway through season 4 and it definitely isn't as good as I remember it being. There is so much filler.

Yeahand I think a major problem is the showrunners' ruluctance to kill off characters and thus make the vast ensemble smaller.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Just finished season 4 a little bit ago. The main plot is strong (as well as some of the subplots) but there is just too much going on here. With that being said, the stuff the works really does work. Marnie is an awesome villain and Fiona Shaw is fantastic here. Amnesia Eric is fantastic and Pam is awesome. The finale... Ugh, still amazing. One of the best episodes of the show.
I would give it a B+

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
OMG! I am so pissed off! I started watching season 5 last night. I only watched the premiere. I went on my on demand section of my Direct TV this morning to watch more and under season 5, all the episodes have been replaced with season 2 and season 5 is nowhere to be found. It has to be some kind of glitch. If it isn't fixed by tonight Direct TV is going to get a phone call.

Why are you binge watching this? This show sucks now. I'll be watching the final season more out of obligation than anything else.

Mainly because I haven't watched season 6 and I didn't remember season 5.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
I took a break for awhile because I didn't want to have a month left before the final season started. I finished season five a couple days ago and it was a lot better than I remembered it being. Very entertaining. I think this is a better series to binge watch than to wait week to week for. It's easier to look past some of the more boring/ridiculous subplots that it has.
I'm in the middle of season 6 and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Re: True Blood - The Final Season!
Finished season 6 last night. Don't get the bad buzz around it at all. I thought it was one of the best seasons. Tons of fun and I liked that they did something different. Loved Sarah going crazy, loved Jason's final confrontation with her too. The only thing that was a little off was the whole Sookie/Warlow relationship but I kind of overlooked it. The rest of the "issues" were the same as the others, a little too much filler but when it's great it's really great.
Season 2 - A- Season 1 - A- Season 6 - A- Season 3 - B+ Season 5 - B+ Season 4 - B-
