Not so bad drop for the ring two The overall drop for the ring 2 will be over 60% this wknd (films drop on saturday) so I wouldnt call its friday all that great. Exactly! I don't get why everyone is saying how great THE RING 2 held because it dropped nearly 65% and will have a weekend drop of over 60%. That isn't exactly good. I didn't even predict THAT high of a drop. I went with a little under 55% since it didn't open too huge (not as big as expected anyway).
It's multiplier was 2.3 last weekend, it'll be at least .4-.5 better now, even with Saturday and Sunday decreases.

I didn't know what it was until yesterday. I haven't seen a single ad on tv, so I'm surprised it did so well.

FRIDAY NUMBERS ANALYSIS
By Tim Briody (Box Office Prophets
http://www.boxofficeprophets.com/column/index.cfm?columnID=8880
Two tired-looking comedies check in to the box office this weekend and both find a decent amount of success in a marketplace devoid of that sort of thing.
Guess Who
The pseudo-update of Guess Who's Coming To Dinner took in a very good $8.2 million Friday, easily outpacing all other films in the marketplace. Really the first comedy targeted at teens and adults since Hitch seven weekends ago, the duo of Fox sitcom stars Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher clicked with audiences, at least for one weekend. Johnson Family Vacation, which similarly opened on Easter weekend, scored a 2.9 internal multiplier last year. Easter has traditionally taken a bite out of the weekend somewhat, so a 2.8 is probably best case scenario here, indicating a $23 million Friday-to-Sunday for Guess Who.
Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
The other comedy released this weekend, the critically-slaughtered sequel to 2000's Miss Congeniality, inexplicably opened on Thursday, earning $3.1 million. That, along with Guess Who, may have kneecapped its Friday figure, where it took in an estimated $5.6 million. In its favor for a positive internal multiplier is that it's a date movie and that the original was well-received. Against it are Guess Who, the sequel-factor and Easter. We'll cop out and call it 2.5 to give the Sandra Bullock sequel $14 million for the weekend and $17 million in four days.
Notable Holdovers
The Ring Two plunges a mammoth 64.8% from last Friday, signalling the death knell for this franchise. Look for a 60% decline from its total last weekend.
Ice Princess drops 35%, indicating decent legs with the target audience. A weekend decline as low as 25% could be in store for the Disney flick.
Projected Estimates for the Top Ten (Three-Day) Projected Rank Film Estimated Gross 1 Guess Who 26.2 2 Robots 19.5 3 Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous 16.2 4 The Ring Two 14.1 5 The Pacifier 12.0 6 Ice Princess 5.0 7 Hitch 4.9 8 Hostage 4.6 9 Million Dollar Baby 3.2 10 Be Cool 3.1

I dont know what people are raving about regarding The Ring Two - its had a horrible drop!! Its good Friday and its dropped 65%!!!!! Dont expect it to rebound over the weekend - This film is a major disapointment.
Solid to very good for Guess Who and average for Miss Congenial - this film suffered the same fate as Ring Two - the trailer looked like more of the same as the first one and much in the same way that Ring Two didnt look scary, this didnt look scary. Maybe a lesson to Hollywood - dont make a sequel if its not any good. Even sequels to WOM hits are not guaranteed success.
The Pacifier stands out as a strong hit heading passed $100m. So to will Robots. That makes 3 pre summer blockbusters (not including 04 holdovers) for the year. Last year we had 2 at this time - though one almost made $400m!!! Hopefully April can provide us with one or two more.

Most times BOP doesn't know what it's talking about. BOG and Lee's analysis are much better.

BoxOffice Prophets are a joke.
Anyway that list seem like predictions, not projections (even though title of it - "Projected Estimates for the Top Ten (Three-Day)" - shows that they are projections).
Still, different numbers in chart, different in analysis.
And if it is prediction, $19.5m for Robots, $12m for The Pacifier??

I'm glad for The Ring Two. Nice hold all things considered, especially the Saturday drop last weekend. It began to hold up better each day over the course of the weekdays.
