*Kung Fu Hustle Screening Tickets*
RSVP NOW
I remember they did this alot in Chicago, and I got to see Harry Potter 3 and Stepford Wives during early screening (for free too, kind of fun). Well they're giving out tickets if you rsvp and live near anyone of these four cities:
San Francisco Dallas Boston Chicago
RSVP at this site: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/pages/misc/kungfu
Its does work. I got tickets in the mail, but be cautious, they over-send on tickets, so you still need to show up like and hour and a half before the show and wait in line. Its two tickets though, so bring a friend and have some fun with it, even in line ahead of time...or switch off, heh.

Damn guys, I didn't like Shaolin Soccer much, but I LOVED Kung-Fu Hustle. It's absolutely incredible. I've already written a review somewhere, but I can't find it, so I'll just say this: Though I disagree with all my friends that it's the best movie ever made, I do agree that it is one of the top three coolest and most fun.

No Atlanta showing? Guess I'll have to go to NYC to get a free ticket.

Not in NYC either...keep driving north four hours and I'll be seeing you in Boston.
Moviedude, how did you already see this movie if its only getting released now? Bootleg? Download? An import version from rental? I know Kim's video here has special euro dvd compatible players you can rent when you rent one of their international dvd's that hasn't been released here yet. They had 2046 and Bad Education out ahead of time, and bring in some other films that haven't been released here yet.

Na, I saw it at the Portland International Film Festival. Almost saw Oldboy too, but that was only playing at 6:30 PM Friday night and 8:45 PM Tuesday night.

My mom just brought me a copy when she returned from China. She didn't like Shaolin Soccer much either, and she absolutely loved this one, saying it really hilarious. I haven't been able to find time watching it yet.

because Kung Fu Hustle is better than Shaolin Soccer. that's why more people likes KungFu Hustle better than Shaolin Soccer. it even breaks the HK box office record which is held by Shaolin Soccer previously.

The CGI sequences and the ending fight scenes were really cool, but the rest of the movie wasn't that good. It was too slow-paced and not enough Stephen Chow. There was too much screentime for non-Stephen Chow characters, so much that it seemed Chou was just another supporting character until the end. Even with all the other characters, it was still sorely missing Man Tat Ng, a regular in Chow movies. But my biggest problem with the film was simply that it was missing a lot of Chow's trademark humor. In fact, it is one of Chow's least funniest movies ever. (I've seen at least a dozen of his other movies over the years). I give it a C.

Saw it last night. Very over-the-top but so funny. Some humors are quite unexpected, and it showed kung-fu in a different way. Very good movie.

The New York Times had a great article in today's Arts and Leisure about Stephen Chow. Fun fact: Sony gave Chow 20 million to help make Kung-Fu Hustle, and are planning on giving it a wide release.

I don't see why this can't make 20 million if they are smart about releasing it. They should be running heavy campaigns, which they are with the screeners they were giving away at rt, and I see alot of adds on the buses here. They should really release it in LA first and foremost, and slowly spread through big cities so that they have a bit of a name before spreading into suburbs. They should hit up college towns quickly too, since University students love a good martial arts flick. Hero made more than that in opening weekend, so its not unthinkable.

I saw a long TV add for this on a local channel. It looked like a lot of fun. It basically looked like an Asian cinema version of the kind of Naked Gun/Airplane spoof movies we're used to. Like Scary Movie 3 only about Hong Kong type movies. I doubt I'll go see it in a theater but I'll defininitely rent it soon as I can. It could make a decent amount of money if they did a funny add campaign targetting urban cineplexes.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of ads for it too. Both on billboards and bus stops, and a lot of those character posters were in my theater, with the trailer getting a great reaction with Sin City. From what I've heard, Sony is planning on releasing this just in LA and NY this week, expanding it to about 20-50 theaters April 50th, and then going with 1000+ screens April 22nd following a large number of advance screenings for WOM. I think that this has the most potential of any foreign movie this year, and Sony knows it too.

I saw the trailer in theaters and it looked really, really bad. I know it's probably supposed to be intentionally over the top and ridiculous, but even with that in mind it still looks laughable.

It's a comedy, therefore SUPPOSED to be laughable, get your facts straight next time.
