They need to get rid of the subplot revolving around Nucky's nephew and allocate more of that time with Richard Harrow and Van Alden.

The most recent episode. This series is so grim this season. Still fantastic as usual, of course.
They are not using Jeffrey Wright nearly as much as they did Bobby Cannavale.
The scene with German poem and the Feds was so perfect yet so sad.
Wright is the anti Cannavale - a slow build I suspect. He operates in the shadows as opposed to the brashness that was Gyp. I do hope we see a lot more of him though.

The last episode had affair bit of Alden. Two episodes without Harrow though. Not much else to do with his story arc just yet but I suspect we'll see more of him later in the season,

Re: Boardwalk Empire
I stand by this series as the best on television and love this season overall, but I believe one storyline represents a fumble: Gillian and her fling with the Ron Livingston character. Him being George Bailey level virtuous was always a facade destined to tumble down, but I did not buy the resolution. This elaborate, elaborate long con in order to maybe one day fool her into confessing to a murder? Too contrived.
Otherwise, though, the storytelling is top-notch as ever, and the cast is in fine form. Chalky's arc, seeing him pushed to a place of desperation after years of relative comfort and thus having to rely on every iota of strength and street forged wit he possesses, is a clear highlight.

David, I might have asked you that before, but I don't remember the answer - have you watched Breaking Bad?

I was thinking the same thing. A little to elaborate to just get a confession. It may have worked better if he was not a cop and perhaps a friend or family member seeking revenge. Still the scenes in the last episode were well done IMO.
Absolutely love thus show. I feel this season needed an extra episode or two as there is do much going in. All of Nucky's support networks are falling apart and it's all coming to a head. No doubt there will be many threads left for next season. The finale looks to be memorable. Chalky confronting Nucky - can't wait!

Great finale but I hated that final shot because he was my favorite character in the show

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Same.
His story had come to an end (pretty much the minute he hit married and had a family). So instead of dusting him off every time they needed a few gangsters killed, they ended his story. They could have let him enjoy his family but its Boardwalk after all.

Teaser for the final season:
I am sad it is ending, yet incredibly excited to see how it comes to a close.

I'm dreading when this show ends but atleast they know its ending and can wrap it up with a bang.
Still - it feels like they had so many more stories to tell. I suspect this last season will chronicle the rise of Al Capone - perhaps at the expense of Nucky Thompson.

Bitter-sweat. Can't wait but don't want it to end. Hopefully it gets the send off it deserves.
That said - atleast the next Winter/Scorsese collaboration for HBO sounds promising - NYC 1970s music industry setting with Bobby Cannovale as lead.

Re: Boardwalk Empire
Fantastic and very satisfying finale, in my opinion. The production team did a nice job resolving the story over the course of eight episodes, particularly in regard to Enoch and his dynamic (trying to be half a gangster by toiling in compromising, sinister waters while maintaining a careful veneer of distance and gentility).

Re: Boardwalk Empire
While the ending was predictable (It was always heading that way when the kid made an appearance + the direction the flashbacks were heading), it was indeed satisfying and quite poetic.
The execution of everything about this show has always been so perfect. The direction, costumes, sets, historical detail - all impeccable. The acting all top notch, with some of the richest supporting performances ever seen on TV.
