I also have an unapologetic soft spot for his version of Solaris.

1999 to me, this movie is obviously - obviously - an utterly vicious satire of idiotic male fantasy. this is clear throughout pretty much the entire movie. it represents the male fear of emasculation through consumerism, conformity and feminism and then proceeds to tear it apart with the most vitriol it could possibly express. some people don't seem to get the satire. hell, many of its most ardent fans would love nothing more than to suck tyler durden's dick and do everything he says in the name of freedom. but whatever. great movie. 53.
