Surprised Daniels beat Cranston, Spacey, even Hamm.

Very deserving and overdue win for Breaking Bad, although I'm surprised that it got there with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul each failing to win their respective categories.

Re: Running list of Emmy winners
SO happy for Anna Gunn, Claire Danes, "Breaking Bad" and the win for "30 Rock" for the writing in its finale.
Jeff Daniels was such a WTF winner that I actually burst out laughing when he was announced. He's good on "The Newsroom" but come on - over Cranston and Lewis and Spacey? No way.
A lot of the winners last night were really random - I don't watch "Nurse Jackie" but I like Merritt Wever and her speech was hilarious.
Oh, and happy for the "Veep" crew! They were hilarious and adorable last night - they all seemed so happy and supportive of each other. Anna Chumksly was visibly crying when Tony Hale won (and for the record Jesse Tyler Ferguson looked PISSED) and the bit with Julia Louis-Dreyfus was awesome.
"Modern Family" winning comedy again was so lazy. It should have gone to "30 Rock."
Overall, the show was pretty awkward and boring. The musical numbers felt really out of place and the in memoriam segments really brought the overall mood down. There were such awkward shifts in tone. Edie Falco's one for James Gandolfini was great though.

Re: Running list of Emmy winners
Very happy for Breaking Bad and that Anna Gunn win was well-deserved too.
But Jeff Daniels winning over Spacey, Lewis and Cranston is mind-blowingly ridiculous.

Re: Running list of Emmy winners
I almost wonder if Jeff Daniels feels bad today. He will have to go around for a while being the person who beat Bryan Cranston at the height of Breaking Bad fever and won a major award for a series most consider mediocre at best.

Re: Running list of Emmy winners
He is really good on the show. I think he deserved to get nominated, especially if he submitted the pilot. But winning over whatever episode Cranston submitted PLUS Damian Lewis for "Q&A" (an absolutely incredible hour that got Claire Danes the Emmy as well as the writing Emmy last night) PLUS Spacey for a highly talked-about performance just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. My only thought is that maybe the three of them suffered from split votes.

'Course, I would have voted for Hugh Bonneville. Was this the first time during its run Michael C. Hall was not nominated for Dexter?

Yes, it is. I don't think the show got any nominations this year, actually.

Colbert finally broke through the Daily Show stranglehold! (Just like New Girl will do to Modern Family next year)

Still can't believe that "New Girl" was completely shut out for season 2 with NO nominations. WTF.
