http://storylineblog.com/2013/07/18/geo ... ruth-gaps/I just had to post this because a family member sent it to me... And I don't think the writer realizes how hilarious the second half of this article is.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
Well, he basically did.
He got nailed for multiple accounts of attempted murder, and is going to jail for the rest of his life (unless the judge throws a curve ball and lets him serve them concurrently). There was a mistrial on the murder charge, and personally I think the jury got it right. The prosecutor over stepped, going for Murder 1, which is a pre-meditated murder, when in reality they should have just gone for Murder 2. The jury got deadlocked and couldn't agree on if the murder was pre-meditated, some jurors really wanted Murder 1, and wouldn't go for Murder 2.
The state can try him again for murder, and they likely will. He'll be out of money and friends, he'll likely lose, and they'll add even more years to his basically life sentence.

Why is every lawyer in Florida so stupid?

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
Trying to position Michael Dunn's crime as a premeditated murder was so idiotic.

 Re: Zimmerman Trial
I guess that depends on your definition of premeditation.

Gulli wrote: David wrote: I never thought I would type this, but Manny ultimately hit the nail on the head many a page ago. If you consider this case from an objective legal perspective as best you can, the result is spot-on, particularly considering the many grievous errors committed by the prosecution, including the ostentatious, media friendly decision to charge him with second-degree murder rather than simply manslaughter. If you let assumptions, fantasies, and melodramatic visions into the equation--Zimmerman as gun toting racist archetype, African martyr Martin as angelic innocent with only dreams of fruity candies dancing in his head, a general racial anger or national hatred, etc.--everything goes sideways and pulpy, but then what you say is of no real value, as exhibited by the foul Barrabás. Ooof. I dunno about that big fella. People injected race into this mess during the whole process and beyond the fact the police refused to investigate further due to the outcry that they ignored initially the whole race angle is moot to the actual turn of events. Zimmerman saw a lad in a hoddie and thought he looked dodgy. nothing to do with race that's a pure class snobbery thing, the whole zimmerman being a racist is silly comic style nonsense. Zimmerman followed him and the Martin lad was spooked and ran. If the prosecution is to be believed and indeed the verdict Martin then became seriously pissed off and confronted Zimmerman. he proceeded to the kick the crap out of him and then Zimmerman decided to shoot him. now i really cannot emphasis this enough for you american readers. you profile a lad and he then turns on you and throws you a few punches and slams your head on the floor this does not suddenly give you the right to kill him. lord knows i have seen plenty a fight on my time. punches are throw the raw anger drips and then then it subsides. at no point have i ever seen somebody whip out a gun and shoot somebody. You know why? because that would be bloody insane lunacy. Oh he threw some violence my way he must die! The actual verdict by the laws in the state of florida? yea Zimmerman should and was acquitted. But the default nuclear mindset that allowed it? No. some lad who is walking home and then let anger about being followed get the best of him should not mean he dies. That's utter lunacy. Oh and yea David In your defense that barrabas lad is an absolute gobshite. Yes going back and re-reading the posts from this thread, THIS is the clear winner.
