Looking at Monica Potter's filmography from around 1998-2002, I'd have never figured she'd actually go anywhere...I am shocked.

Prior to Parenthood, I always found her to be a rather bland actress. I'll never forget her turn as the world's least threatening surprise villain in Along Came a Spider.

But she is simply wonderful on the show, especially this past season.

She was in Con-Air. That's more than enough for me.

My thoughts also. Her acting was pretty bad in Saw and not really that great in Along Came a Spider. Also pretty boring in Boston Legal. Granted I never seen the Parenthood tv show, I'm guessing it could be like January Jones where an actress with limited range gets cast in a role that suits their ability.

The show presentation was a disaster I heard. Why announce the best drama about three quarters of the way through and only to announce a tie between two shows?

That's not the case at all. Her character Kristina had breast cancer this past season and Potter was by turns heartbreaking and funny. Plenty of dramatic range.

No, Monica Potter is legitimately AMAZING on the show. She 100% deserves the acclaim and awards.

A lot of actors, and this is a phenomenon that i'll never fully understand, really don't grow into themselves until a certain indiscernible point near middle age where they--even though previously useless on screen-- suddenly start to imbue their work with a lived-in gravity and dignity and sense of authenticity that's impossible to ignore. Monica Potter, exclusively and incontestably horrible in every single role she has ever had prior to this, has reached that point. She's revelatory on Parenthood.

Not even remotely a January Jones situation.
