CAN'T WAIT! I'm friends with someone on the show and they say that the second season is even better.

 Re: Smash: Season 2
I thought the premiere (or the first hour at least) was GREAT! Jennifer Hudson stole all her scenes, I loved the big musical number with her show as well as the performance with Karen at the fundraiser. Also really enjoyed Megan Hilty's big number. I thought the majority of the scenes were really well-performed and sincere - I really liked the moment between Karen and Ivy near the end of the episode. Jeremy Jordan and Krysta Rodriguez are already very likable even with their limited screentime.
I definitely think the change in the creative staff is already evident. This was the best episode since the pilot, and the preview of the season looked excellent.

I hope it can pull in respectable enough numbers this season to get a third.

Also, FYI Dev, Julia's husband and Swift are all written off the show in the first episode, though Julia's husband is the only one to actually appear. Ellis is not mentioned

 Re: Smash: Season 2
So. This show has transitioned from being cringeworthy to just kinda boring. Not sure if that's an improvement.
Gah.

The first hour was great, the second hour is a little dull thus far.

 Re: Smash: Season 2
I think Kat McPhee's acting has actually gotten worse since last season. Why are we supposed to care about Karen?
Megan Hilty, on the other hand, is wonderful as usual.

Hilty's big number just now was great.

Meh. This show could benefit if it had as many murders as The Following does.

 Re: Smash: Season 2
I probably won't be watching this season but I did catch the premiere and it doesn't look like they understood what didn't work about the first season. All the changes they made were superficial (new characters, getting rid of old ones, no scarves). It still ranges from soapy to bad to boring to unwatchable.
It doesn't help that McPhee is even more helpless when singing against Hudson.

 Re: Smash: Season 2
I spent most of the second hour sighing and wishing Parenthood's season hadn't ended already. I don't know if I can really slog through this for another season. Season 1 at least had the hate watching train wreck factor...season 2 just seems like it'll be endlessly dull.
Also, show: stop trying to make Karen happen. It's not going to happen.

 Re: Smash: Season 2
Apparently that article I just posted is a typo and it actually got a 1.1 in the demo. A 1.1 Jesus Christ! I wonder if NBC will air all the episodes.

Of course they'll air the whole season.
Apparently it won't be on now until the 19th?
