He's probably thinking up an excuse as to why the movie did better than he predicted. It will probably go like this:

All those stupid teens only bought their tickets for The crappy pg-13 Ring Two so that they could use them to sneak into Amityville Horror in April which is going to OWN the Ring Two!

Regardless, a weekend take of about 45-55 seems pretty reasonable from the information we've been given so far; hopefully it can hit the higher end of that scale.

Thank you Zing, I'm glad other theaters are doing great, I feel much better for my prediction now

Yeah, I wouldn't really be worried about how soon it sells out. After all, it could be the type of movie people buy tickets for right before showtime.

The Ring Two
9:25 p.m.
AMC OakView 24
500-seat theater: SOLD OUT

Trailers:

War of the Worlds (some ooh's)
Red-Eye (no reaction)
The Lords of Dogtown (no reaction)
The Skeleton Key (no reaction)
Dark Water (no reaction)

Film:

The crowd shrieked more than I ever thought possible -- almost as much as the original film. And at this point I definitely think Ring Two is a better film than the original. Is it a better horror movie? No. But I cared a whole hell of a lot more about the characters.

\:D/ Someone who agrees with me. Well, I have the original ranked slightly ahead (8.6/10 Vs. 8.4/10), but both are ranked high enough to easily be in my top 10 for any year.

BTW, when I saw the original, the audience didn't make any noise. Then again, it was in week #5 with only about 50 people.

Scotty and BKB are no where to be found.

Perhaps BKB is holding Scott hostage because Scott's report points to a $25 million opening day and BKB doesn't want anyone to see it because he knows that he's completely wrong about box office and The Ring Two will out do The Amityville Horror?

Poor Scott.

I saw the original quite a few times, and people were laughing really often. Why is anyone surprised by that? After a decent scare, it's natural to laugh and pretty much admit the movie got you. When Samara appeared in the ambulance, the shrieking and laughing was so loud it was difficult to make out the "I found you!" line.

It's more disheartening when there's complete silence, a la Boogeyman.

Heh, I wouldn't doubt it.

Seriously though, if i remember correctly, doesn't Scott usually post his reports for the late shift at around 4:30 am Eastern time? I'm pretty sure that's when I usually notice his posts, so at least a few hours to go until we'll hear from him I think.

Yeah, if I had predicted high for The Ring Two, I wouldn't want to see Scott back so early considering his theater has 8 shows after 11:00PM, PST. He should be very busy right now.

In my mind it was never ever a possibility that AMITYVILLE could do as much or more than THE RING TWO. Maybe if hell froze over, but maybe not even then .

 I can't wait.

This is a bit of a strange week. The yahoo reviews seem to indicate lower numbers then I have been predicting considering that it's featured on the front page, but the crowd reports give me hope. You know, perhaps this shows that blockbusters only have a minimal impact from being on the front page. I ask myself the question, is it really likely that movies like Harry Potter 3 and Spider-man 2 did not receive something similar on the front page when they were released? They did after all have fairly low ratios; nothing near 200. Perhaps massive BO numbers can overwelm the effect of being on the front page.

Okay guys (and Mr. Halle Berry who said that I came to my theater). Here is the report.

Upside of Anger
1:20 (110 seater) - 74% full.
2:40 (135 seater) - 47% full.
4:10 (110 seater) - 52% full.
5:50 (150 seater) - 69% full.
7:05 (150 seater) - 69% full.
8:20 (150 seater) - 56% full.
10:00 (150 seater) - 26% full.
11:10 (150 seater) - 13% full.
(Like Libs said, a top ten finish is possible)

Ice Princess
1:10 (300 seater) - 10% full.
2:10 (400 seater) - 4% full.
3:50 (300 seater) - 7% full.
4:55 (400 seater) - 5% full.
6:35 (300 seater) - 8% full.
7:40 (200 seater) - 23% full.
9:20 (300 seater) - 13% full.
10:20 (200 seater) - 7% full.
(I'm not sure where Yahoo numbers are going, but this did Jack Squat at our theater. I mean, even New York Minute did better than this. Don't be surprised if the number is under $10 million for the weekend).

The Ring Two
1:15 (250 seater) - 31% full.
1:50 (200 seater) - 28% full.
2:30 (600 seater) - 8% full.
3:15 (400 seater) - 14% full.
4:00 (250 seater) - 36% full.
4:40 (200 seater) - 51% full.
5:20 (600 seater) - 23% full.
6:10 (400 seater) - 47% full.
6:55 (250 seater) - Sold Out.
7:35 (400 seater) - Sold Out.
8:15 (600 seater) - Sold Out.
8:15 interlock (600 seater) - Sold Out.
9:05 (400 seater) - Sold Out.
9:50 (250 seater) - Sold Out.
10:30 (400 seater) - Sold Out.
11:05 (600 seater) - Sold Out.
11:05 interlock (600 seater) - Sold Out.
12:00 (300 seater, 175 seater, and 150 seater) - All Sold Out.
12:30 (175 seater, 300 seater, 250 seater, and 200 seater) - All about half full as of 11:45.
(We have not seen this kind of business since Meet the Fockers, therefore, the biggest grosser this year so far. So $50 million would have been possible, if it weren't for those Regal underbookings.)

All in all, it was pretty busy at the most part. I mean, the Ring did like 60% of the business, meaning that there wasn't alot of spillover business. Thank you, and good night.

That is a lot of sell-outs for The Ring Two. I didn't factor in the Regal Cinemas underbookings into my projections, I do wonder how much that will affect it. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Thanks for the info Scott...have a great night everyone.

True, but this was worse than performances like Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, New York Minute, and gasp, Son of the Mask.

I sure hope Ice Princess isn't at 8m or lower this weekend. If that's the case, it would just about put Samweise even with me right there. Man, I need Constantine to break 2.5m this weekend.

Oh for heaven sakes, you folks are so overjazzed up for this movie, that little do you know that this movie isn't gonna make 25 Million on friday alone.. You better get used to that, no matter how many fucking sell out's there were.. That was a given and just like Fockers, it didn't make 25 Million in 1 day.. You better lower your expectations as to what your expecting for a 1st day total biys and girls.. It's not happening.. :-#

Crowd reports are awesome!

Glad RED EYE and SKELETON KEY are getting some marketing through trailers being attached.
