NO ONE INVITED YOU, PATRICE!

The mediocrity continues, but I laughed a little bit more than in other episodes this summer, but it was really a Season 4 rehash pretty much. And WTF Barney on a date with Patrice? I was hoping for it to be a big a ploy by Barney in the end to get Robin, but they went to a future scene instead.

I have been watching reruns of S1 episodes on TV and has this show become bad. Didn't actually realize it up until now. I was aware it wasn't as charming and fun as it used to be, but the drop in quality is huge. Hopefully next season isn't as blah as this one. It's supposedly the last one and I'm hoping they planned it from episode 1 to episode 24. This season is complete filler so far.

FINALLY a great episode.

The Robin!

That was just grand.

We all knew the Barney and Robin engagement was coming (duh), but the proposal itself and the episode around it were pretty much magic. Certainly the best HIMYM of the season. Like...damn, the payoff for this was good.

Ted officially saying goodbye to the idea of Robin as a romantic partner in the limo was a really great scene. And the ending of him staring out the skyscraper was just the perfect bittersweet moment.

Also, Robin yelling at Patrice (the Parks & Rec's Jerry of HIMYM) will never not be funny.
Patrice: "Ooh, this is such a pretty basket."
Robin: "THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT IT, PATRICE!"

Yeah both parts were fantastic and of course the second part would be because Bays & Thomas wrote it. I like that even though Ted may not have had the main plot in the episode, we still got to see him back in his architecture spotlight. I think we are getting started on a good ride to the end.

The second episode that aired last night was so adorable and sweet. The ending was really touching.

This season has been so, so bad overall, but last night's episode was perfect.

But poor Teddy Westside.

I loved the last third of last night's episode. It's been a while since we've seen a Ted/Lily moment like that. Also, I loved the hint we got to the mother this time around. Honestly people need to stop gripping, we will see her at season's end.

I honestly don't care if we ever see her, just bring back the funny.

Ted's convo with Lily on the roof was a great scene. A reminder that HIMYM can be surprisingly emotional and deep for a sitcom when it wants to be.

An enjoyable episode. I'm glad this episode exists because it can stop all the theories saying Barney's half-sister is the mother.

Fantastic episode. I wish the whole episode had been Underneath the Tunes

Great episode. "P.S. I Love You" by Robin Daggers is all I needed in life.

Dave Coulier, followed by Bob Saget's voice-over saying he loves the "cut that out" line, was like the world's most random Full House reference and made me so happy.

Enjoyed Abby Elliott. I think you kind of need an actress that cute to pull off, as Ted called it, "the last big mistake." "This is embarrassing but..."

Dave Coulier was great, the rest fucking awful. I mean just the Sparkles part, the Dahmer, dobbler parts were really funny.

I was so looking forward to Robin Sparkles 4, easily the worst of them. Here's hoping they do one more where she does a softcore porn and Barney ultimately wins the slap bet. At least Robin Daggers opens it up for an even darker turn for her.

Finally, a funny episode. I loved Robin's version of Ted.

Good stuff tonight. Really liked Barney feeding Ted lines.

Really good ep last night. Loved the ending with the gang sitting on the sidewalk Jeanette just burning/dumping Ted's possessions on them.

Yeah last two episodes have been good, in otherwise the worst season of the show so far. I did enjoy the weekend at Barney's a lot, especially part 2.

Forgetting season 5, are we?

On another note, I laughed A LOT at the endless parade of Skittles falling out of Marshall.

please. Season 5 has some of the show's best moments, and was still hilarious.

The Playbook, Robin 101, last Cigarette Ever, Dopplegangers, Jenkins, Rabbit or Duck, Window, Slapsgiving 2, Double Date, Sexless Inkeeper, Duel Citizenship, and Say Cheese. Season 8 doesn't have a single episode better than any of them. And the proposal is about the lamest and most predictable thing the show has ever done.

And I'm sorry libs, but to go back to an earlier thing you say. Robin yelling at Patrice is the most painfully unfunny recurring joke the series has ever done.

The show has been going through the motions since season 7, but seven rebounded with about 6-10 great episodes. Season 8, has had maybe 3 with 4 to go.

Your opinion is invalid. Robin yelling will never not be funny.

Except it isn't, but its no biggie, no one has ever accused us of having the same sense of humor.
