Even though I didn't buy into most of it I still found the NYC stuff entertaining and really enjoyed Sarah Jessica Parker.
I thought the cover of "Celebrity Skin" was fun too. Also really liked "The Way You Look Tonight / You're Never Fully Dressed." Sarah did a great job singing. Really like her voice. Hope she'll get to do more musical numbers in the future.

Yeah, I really want them to excise everything going on at McKinley after this season. I don't want Darren Criss gone though so he needs to go to New York . Bring Santana there too and the show could be perfect.

Re: "Glee" Thread
The McKinley stuff just really isn't working that well. It's not particularly bad, it's mostly just uninteresting. I don't really care who won the debate at McKinley when the NYC storyline is about ten times more interesting. It feels juvenile at this point. And it doesn't even feel like the writers are very invested in it - exemplified by the fact that Will has barely had any screentime this season, etc. It really pops now when they are in the NYC setting.
Even though SJP's character was completely unrealistic I thought she did a great job with the material, and also agree that her musical number was a standout.
I still can't believe I'm not loathing Kurt this season! What's happening?!

Maybe because you've found someone you can't stand even more (Unique) .
If it weren't for the NY stuff showing it up I'd probably be enjoying the stuff at McKinley enough. But when the NY scenes are so much more interesting the other stuff really pales in comparison. I'm not interested in almost anyone there. And I remember I used to love the Will/Emma coupling. Now I don't care. Will bores me now. I almost didn't catch most of what was going on with him last night because I kept tuning those scenes out. I had to force myself to pay attention.

I don't even remember what happened with Will and I watched it this morning Something with him and being on the panel for setting rules for nationals or something?

That's very possible
And it's because most of the characters that were interesting at McKinley are no longer there - like, who is really invested in Artie, Tina, etc. at this point?

I don't like the direction they're going with Kurt. Gay guy getting an internship at Vogue is just such a cliche story. But Kurt is totally cliche anyway, so... Also SJP got such a badly written character to play. I'm not really a fan of hers, but she deserves better.
I feel sad for Blaine. But he's finally realizing Kurt is one stuck up diva.

I do feel bad for Blaine. He deserves better. Kurt has always been self-involved. I would never treat someone as perfect as Blaine like that, but whatever . If they split for a while, which is fine with me as I think they need to expand the character of Blaine as more than just Kurt's boyfriend, I do want to see them get back together next season after some time apart. Hopefully Kurt will have grown.

God, the new characters are so insufferable. I seriously hate all of them.
Other than that, really good episode (though I laughed when Blaine and Kurt broke up - good riddance). Really liked most of the musical numbers too, and thought the majority of the breakups were realistic and well-handled.
Also Santana was back! Yay!

Re: "Glee" Thread
By the way, Lea Michele hasn't been this likable as Rachel since the first season. Maybe it's because I hate Marley so much but her performance has been really good.
Also, second week without Kate Hudson - I guess they are going to space her guest arc out (she's signed on for six episodes) throughout the season, which makes sense. Would have been annoying to just have her in the first six episodes before just disappearing.
Hopefully when/if season 5 starts they do away with the high school setting altogether.

I want Kurt to stop singing. His voice is becoming more and more annoying. I don't blame Blaine. Kurt is a shallow bitch. Good luck Blaine with whomever.

Re: "Glee" Thread
Wow, this episode was...really good. What show is this? An episode of Glee was really good? I'm just as shocked as anyone else.
I wasn't too broken up about any of the break ups, really, since they were all a long time coming. And I certainly can't be expected to give two craps about Will's spat with Emma, since he is a horrible character and person. But the actors were all terrific in their scenes. Particularly Lea Michele, who has been impressing me a lot this season. Darren Criss' "Teenage Dream" redux was almost uncomf. to watch because it was impressively emotional and raw.
Rachel and Emma having backbones and standing their ground was also laudable. Finally, this show's female characters don't act like simpering idiots for once.
"The Scientist" was also maybe one of the best things they've ever done?
I do hope the semi-breakup of Santana and Brittany doesn't mean we won't be seeing Santana much. She's still the best thing about the show.
The new characters are still bland and such obvious retreads (Marley is Rachel, Whatever His Face Is is a Puck/Finn combo, Kitty is a more extreme Early Quinn) and the show's effort to make them relevant have been a failure.
Remember how great this show once was? Episodes like this bring glimmers of those memories back and it's more sad than anything else.

Re: "Glee" Thread
The last episode was excellent. This had the best collection of musical numbers of any episode in recent memory. I loved seeing Naya Rivera back. I want her to be on this show full time again. Please take the suggestion made by Brittany and go to New York .
The cast really hit it home, especially Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, and Naya Rivera. Loved Rachel and Finn's final scene. Lea Michele was so great in it. Still couldn't give a shit about the new cast/characters.
As much as most of these couples needed a break, the break-ups were still sad.

Naya Rivera's performance of "Mine" gave me goose flesh . She's better than Taylor Swift, IMO.

Ugh, I started this latest episode and it's all McKinley-based and Marley/Unique have solos. That's enough to make me want to skip it.

Yeah, worst episode of the season thus far. Marley, Kitty and Unique are all insufferable. Also Amber Riley and Harry Shum Jr. did nothing in their guest spots. I can't believe I was actually missing Kurt during some of this episode too Blaine's breakdown after his big solo was also really stupid and horribly acted by Darren Criss.
Let's hope they phase out this McKinley crap quickly.

I hate to say it because I love Criss, but yes, his breakdown made me cringe. Definitely the worst episode of the season. I thought it was fairly uninteresting. I desperately missed the New York scenes. An episode without was insufferable.

That scene was so bad I don't even know how Criss apologists could defend it. I also laughed at his borderline creepy Kurt scrapbook.
Thank god the NYC stuff is back next week. They really should just focus on Rachel and Kurt, and maybe move characters that would logically head there like Santana, Finn or even Mercedes over to that storyline, and do away with all the high school stuff. Other actors could still do guest arcs and the show would benefit immensely from it. I feel like the general consensus from most critics is that the NYC scenes are great and refreshing - EW mentioned it in one of their most recent issues. The McKinley storylines don't work anymore. I'm even finding Jane Lynch annoying at this point.

Totally agree. New York is where this show needs to head next season. I'm over everything at McKinley. I don't care about these new characters. I'm no longer interested in Will or Sue. It's time to do away with them.

Re: "Glee" Thread
This past episode felt INTERMINABLE. I can't believe how much I actually missed the NYC stuff. This show is agonizing without Rachel and Kurt, as surprised as I am to say that.
At least the ending seems to indicate the show will be Will-less for a good seven or eight episodes. Hopefully.
Thoughts: -Why can't the show decide if Unique is transgendered or a drag queen? And I don't even really care, actually. -Why is Marley so bland? -Why is Kitty like Season 1 Quinn amped up to 2000 without any subtlety or any of Dianna Agron's ability? -Why were Mercedes and Mike Chang even there?
The new guy was cute. I'll give them that. And Chord Overstreet continues to be funny in the background.
But actually. We have New Finn (Ryder), New Rachel (Marley), New Quinn (Kitty) and New Puck (Puck's Brother). We've already seen this show before, Glee.

Yeah, for all the times Rachel and Kurt have annoyed me I never thought I'd miss them as much as I did last week.
I'm so relieved the NYC stuff is back with the new episode. If they never showed Unique/Marley/Kitty again it would be too soon

Re: "Glee" Thread
Ugh, I HATE the new characters. HATE them. Kitty is such an unbelievable bitch - she isn't even somewhat endearing like Quinn was in the first season. Her scenes made me so uncomfortable. And Marley continues to be completely annoying and her subplot was stupid and preachy. Unique wasn't in the episode much but I hate him too. Basically the only new character I even somewhat like is Brody, and of course he's in the portion of the show that doesn't suck
I fast forwarded through "Greased Lightning" and "Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee."
As usual the NYC stuff was good and I liked seeing Kate Hudson back. I felt bad for Rachel at the end and I was very happy when she told Kurt that McKinley didn't feel like 'home' to her anymore. Maybe she will stop going back there It was also great to see Santana again and also to see her with a musical number. I wasn't expecting to see her in this episode so it was a welcome surprise.

It was certainly better than last week's episode, but the most interesting stuff is with Kurt and Rachel. Really felt bad for Rachel. Kate Hudson is a bitch . Maybe she's Kitty's mom .
Thom, I'm sure you're at least excited that The Warblers are back next week. LOL. Are we not going to have anything in New York next week? Didn't look like it from the previews.
