Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
Great finale! Really enjoyed the many season one throwbacks and the graduation scene was well-done. Really liked how much of a Santana focus there was. And the end was actually fairly surprising for this series - I did not expect that to happen between Finn and Rachel at all and thought both Cory Monteith and Lea Michele were outstanding in the final few scenes. LOVED Lea's final number and the whole entrance into her NYC life.
So based on that finale we have Rachel and Santana in NYC for sure (and Ryan Murphy says they want to film on location, which I'm sure Lea is fine with since she's from there), and I'm sure by midseason Kurt and Finn will end up there as well. Seems like they are the only seniors who are guaranteed to be staying on full-time next year as the others got fairly solid write-offs.
I'm actually excited for the new season now, something I NEVER thought I'd say when suffering through atrocities like the leprechaun episode in early season 3. These final four or five episodes were really fantastic.

I found the finale a bit underwhelming but the last few minutes were terrific.
I'm excited to see where this show goes next season. Should be interesting and at least feel fresh again. I'm especially interested in following Rachel and Santana in New York.

"Roots Before Branches" was really well-done. It's definitely one of Lea Michele's best performances on this show.

That was boring. Also Rachel getting in despite blowing her auditions and Kurt not getting in was dumb. Do good kids and you won't make it. Be a song hogging diva and you'll make it! Also Blaine is younger than Kurt? Whuuuuuut??? LOL.

But Rachel has always been the central character of the show, moreso than anyone else. It made the most sense that she would get in. I felt that the resolution was very realistic. They are all in a small town and think they are all going to be stars, but the reality is there are hundreds of people just like them in NYC and LA. Finn going to the army also made sense with his story arc.

But what would they have done with her in Lima for another season? It would have been incredibly, incredibly boring. I can't believe I'm defending this show

Cause she's either going to go all diva there (yawn!) or again be the outsider (been there done that). Either way they should've just cut the graduates completely. Like Skins change cast every two seasons.

Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
Well I for one would hate for them to get a whole new cast. May have stopped watching then. That's where Skins went wrong and I stopped watching. We've been following these characters for three years. How interesting would it be to see them start over with new characters doing the same thing? Not very, IMO. I want to know where they go from here. I'm excited to see them face new challenges.

Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
The "Skins" cast change didn't work. I was a loyal viewer of that series before finally dropping it midway through the last season because I didn't care anymore. But the first generation was always the best and the others always just came off as pale imitations. I think "Friday Night Lights" handled the graduation aspect the most successfully of any series. Those who graduated remained a part of the series, but weren't necessarily series regulars. They also introduced a new generation as well. "Glee" isn't going to do this as successfully, but I feel like that's what Ryan Murphy was going for (hell, there was even a "FNL" reference IN the finale )

Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
I thought the finale was pretty good but it felt so incomplete. I still have no idea what on earth the show is going to look like next season.
Also, for as much crap as we all give this show, the breakup scene in the car was impeccably acted by Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. I almost forgot what it was like on this show when that kind of thing happens (i.e. the characters are taken seriously and aren't borderline cartoons).
I'll give it to Glee, though. So much of this season was AWFUL but they kinda brought it together there in the last three episodes. Well done.

I'm willing to give it a shot. I hope Darren Criss doesn't become the lead male though - he's the definition of overexposed by this point.

I kind of wish Rachel and the rest that graduated got a spin off. Enjoying the NY stuff with Kate Hudson but the other stuff is baaaaaad.

Re: "Glee" Thread - Sept 9 as scheduled!
I didn't think it was possible for this show to be anymore gay than it already is, but they managed to make it even more gay. Teen drag queen as a regular? LOL.
NY stuff was surprisingly great. But that's because Rachel is an outsider again. Once she becomes a "star" she will get annoying again.
Overall a much better episode than all season 3, and most of season 2, but that's not saying much.

 Re: "Glee" Thread
Puck's little brother being the bad guy is a pretty weak and re-used story line. Hopefully that's just a small part of the overall story.

 Re: "Glee" Thread
The NYC scenes were so much better than the high school scenes last night that it wasn't even funny. I don't even care about anyone at McKinley anymore, but LOVED the Rachel scenes and Kate Hudson.
Solid premiere though.

I haven't watched it yet but they should have just focused on the main cast in NY it seems. That's why I'm excited to watch the premiere.
