Look at the letter grade ;)

If The Ring is an 8/10, I'd say Ring Two's a 7.5/10. I'm still a bit taken in by the crowd experience and such, so I'll be able to give a more accurate grade, yay or nay, Thursday night.

Taken in a bit by the crowd reaction?? Such as, what?? It wasn't as positive or a massive round of applause or a standing ovation like you would've wanted or what?? :-k

Like, it was a fun experience. People were acting like it was Star Wars or something. No Samara dress-ups in the crowd, but the general "Ohmygodi'vegottogetinthere!" feeling was present. I don't know if that increased my expectations so I didn't like the film as much, or if maybe I was lighter on the film than I'd be otherwise. So that's why I'm waiting for my second viewing to give a definitive answer.

Looks like The Ring 2 is getting 4 screens at Scott's theater and 1 interlock at night. It has a ton of showtimes after 11PM, with 3 at midnight and 3 more at 12:30AM. 23 showings total. On the other side, straight-forward 2 screens for Ice Princess.

You forgot to mention that the Upside of Anger is also opens on 2 screens. It looks like with all those trilocks (that's like a total of nine screens!!!), we won't have to add shows. We are not taking any risks on underbooking a movie like this (we only booked Grudge on 3 screens and ended up adding a 1:50 show). With all those showtimes, it looks like that we will definetly be one of the top grossing engagements this weekend, especially since this one of the top grossing theaters (BTW, we were 6th place for Be Cool, and 9th place for Hitch).

Looking at these some of these print counts for the Regal chains, they are so going to get killed. I think it is because of a bad deal with Dreamworks. Looks like my chain will be victorious. Anyhow, this should be a fun weekend.

Oh and xiayun, please get rid of that link before a manager catches that (because you are giving a wereabouts of the chain and the specific chain, and it is illegal and you will get me in trouble, notice that I never give the pricise location anymore and I refer it as just "my theater", thank you).

Thanks again, and by the way, do you think my theater has a chance of being the highest grossing engagement? I think it does. Also, back to the trilocks, I think that is one of the most interesting moves this theater has ever had. I mean, since we know that the 9-11 shows will sell out very fast, then we will have lots of tickets to sell for the 12:00 and 12:30 instead of trying to add showtimes, like we did to the Grudge, and White Noise. The interesting question is, how will they fill up. Horror movies always do the best at our theater on Friday nights (even the midnights sell out), so this cold get very very interesting.

The demand for a bona-fide horror movie such as The Ring 2 should be very high after 11PM on a Friday night, while the demand for kid and a few other genre movies decreases significantly, so I think it's a great idea to pile up late showings as your theater is doing. It'll maximize the number of sold-out (or close to sold-out) shows and the profit.

The showtimes for less then half the theaters in the Denver area are listed so far online. Robots is in 24 theaters, but only 9 have showtimes listed for Friday as of now.

Here is everything listed so far:

Robots - 9 theaters, 78 showtimes
The Ring Two - 10, 77
The Pacifier - 8, 45
Ice Princess - 8, 43
Hitch - 8, 39
Be Cool - 7, 36
Hostage - 8, 33
Million Dollar Baby - 7, 29
Sideways - 5, 17
The Aviator - 5, 16
Upside of Anger - 2, 16
Constantine - 5, 14
Finding Neverland - 4, 14
Bride and Prejudice - 3, 13
Hotel Rwanda - 3, 10
The Wedding Date - 2, 10
The Phantom of the Opera - 2, 5
Because of Winn-Dixie - 2, 4
Pooh's Heffalump Movie - 2, 4
Diary of a Mad Black Woman - 1, 3
Man of the House - 2, 2
Are We There Yet? - 1, 2
The Jacket - 1, 1

I see the same thing Aminosity described; Ring 2 has only one screen at the Regal (UA here) theaters. Otherwise it would have 85+ showtimes Friday. The AMC theaters are showing it around the clock. I'm frankly pissed, if this is the case at the UA theater I go to, it will be sold out all day. I think I'm going to go to Colorado Cinema or AMC for the first time in over 2 years. I now seriously hate Regal.

Actually, I'm going to the new Century theater nearby. I might just stop going to UA altogether. It depends on the quality of the Century theater.

I honestly am begining to think Regal is doing this TO dreamworks, basically a screw you, you wont get much money from us off this movie type of thing.. I mean Regal is fine as a company and wont hurt at all from this imo... dreamworks had to have screwed them somehow

Haha, anyone remember the last time Regal had a problem with a film and actually boycotted it? Yeah, that would be Rush Hour 2, which had the 3rd biggest opening average ever at its time. I don't think Dreamworks will be crying a river over this one, Regal is just moronic.

Both of my local theaters have three screen for The Ring Two. One is an AMC and one is a Cinemark. I'll check on local Regal theaters later on if anyone is interested (Atlanta area)?

Cinemark Tinseltown 17 (occasionally go there)

Wereabouts in Atlanta do you live?

I can't tell you how glad I am that it's Spring Break, because I'm going to be drowning in movies soon.

I believe I'm catching The Ring Two and The Upside of Anger over the weekend, and apparently Ice Princess with my sister and niece during the week.

Famous Players by me:

The Ring Two - 1 screen (4 showings)
Ice Princess - 1 screen (4 showings)

SilverCity by me:

The Ring Two - 2 screens (8 showings)
Ice Princess - 1 screen (4 showings)

Seems The Ring Two is not getting super treatment around here, either. But neither is Ice Princess. Robots and Pacifier are taking up the screens, mostly.

PEACE, Mike ;)

I don't think it will hurt Dreamworks much, Regal will lose far more. If people want to see a movie, they will see it even if not right away.

Great News, I am working night shift on Friday, so expect some great Ring reports, especially those midnight shows.
