I think it is 200K higher but way lesser in admissions. With that number it didn't match THG's midnight admissions as well.

Indeed, I'm wondering what the 3D share is, 3D business was strong is anchorage last night.

Yeah I believe 3D share for midnights might be huge.

Marvel/Disney is probably not one of the studios she likes, hence the negativity.

DP07 tends to throw out some mad numbers, even outcrazing BJ. After THG i know better to not laugh at him.

I don't even think $200m is extremely unlikely at this point: that'd still be a higher midnight/OW ratio than every other marvel film to date by a pretty big margin.

$190M? LOL c'mon now, this might break the OW record, but it still most likely won't do more than $175M. Let's just focus on this beating TDK for now at least, don't ya agree.

$65M+ OD should be LOCKED and $70M+ seems to be more likely. TDK came out in July which probably made it somewhat frontloaded and with kids still in school TA should definitely experiance more of a Friday rush leading to a bigger OD. It's almost similar to how DMC did more at midnight than SM3, but then a year later SM3 still ended up having a bigger OD than DMC. That just goes to show that summer really inflates numbers compared to your average weekdays.

you really think its going to follow the Marvel path? I think zing has the right approach with using TF2 as the basis. Though I guess there is a possibility of a 75m OD, which with a 2.53 IM would lead to a 190m OW. But I can't see it opening that high and having a 2.5+ IM.

Still see 180m as best-case. 160m the likely the target though.
Even with a $75m OD, that's a lot more frontloaded to midnight figures than previous Marvel films. And I'm not sure how a comparison to a Wednesday opener in late June is a good one.

I mean, the best comparisons are the other Marvel films that opened the first weekend of May, but c'mon. Their midnights were 15% of the opening day. NO WAY. The Dark Knight was like 27.5% and Transformers was 25.8%. These are more realistic. After that, it should follow more along Spider-Man 3 in terms of Saturday/Sunday.

It may have been Wed but keep in mind it was late June where 99% of schools are out.
That's kind of my point, lol. That audience is going to make up the majority of the midnight crowd, so that's a big boost to the midnight/OW ratio right there. And a Wednesday opening is still going to negatively affect nighttime business, more so than early May will affect matinees.

I would probably agree that a $72-$75m OD is more realistic (and what I'm currently thinking), but we shouldn't discount higher figures just because they're, well, higher. I mean, an $80m OD still gives you a ratio of 23.4%, significantly more frontloaded than the other Marvel films.

I agree with that. I think $80m is definitely in play. Logic would dictate that it'll land around $75m, but history indicates it will go way above that.

SPIDER-MAN 3 did $10m in midnights and $50m on regular Friday for a $60m total and $151m for the weekend.

If AVENGERS would perform like SM3 from now on:

$141m regular Friday-Sunday
$23m 16 % inflation
$21m 15 % 3D
$19m midnights
$204m TOTAL

I can't see the non-midnight Friday record falling by like $5-7M which would happen with a $75M OD.

Why not? Prices are heavily inflated relative to the record holder. It's not much of a stretch to say it'll fall by that much. Hell it could fall by more than that if it goes up to 80M
