Post Extras Christmas Special
The Extras series finale/Christmas special airs this Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.

Who's watching? Anybody already seen it? Anybody since caught up with the first two seasons (of the BEST comedy on TV)!?

Speaking of, the DVD of the entire series + the Christmas special is being released in January, but they aren't releasing the Christmas special on its own. Which sucks. Cause I just bought the first season a few months ago, so. Yeah.

I'll be Netflixing only the last disc, I believe.

But didn't they release the Office Christmas special on its own? Or can you only get it in the box set? Cause, that reminds me that I need the Christmas special for The Office on DVD too.

I just don't want to buy the entire series on DVD if they're going to eventually release the Christmas special on its own. As far as I can tell, it's just a special box that contains the two seasons (both of which are in their original box set form) and the Christmas special.

The Office Christmas special is available on its own, but I don't think it was originally bundled. So there's no way to tell, really, if it will eventually be released individually.

I caught the first two seasons through Netflix. Brilliant stuff. Nice to know I won't have to wait for the Christmas Special long.

Maggie is officially the most depressing character in television history. Ashley Jensen breaks my heart.

the xmas special was good but as i said, depressing as fuck.

I didn't watch it live like I was planning to. And I've been avoiding downloading it.

Because once I do, the show's gone. :(

Just finished it. Really really enjoyed it. Nice ending to the series. Truthfully, I was happy with the Season 2 ending, but this didn't ruin anything. Tied it up nicely, actually. A bit of a downer throughout, but they pulled it off well, with a nice payoff scene at the end (with excellent work from Gervais and Jensen, and Merchant as well).

I had to rewatch the scene where Andy breaks down on Celeb Big Brother, and I didn't realize at first that Darren was crying because he thought Andy was talking to him. I just thought he was like everyone watching the finale, waiting for Andy to make up with Maggie.

I'm also pleased that they never added a romantic relationship between Andy and Maggie. I'm happy that two people who love each other like that on TV don't end up together romantically.

Only just watched it (TV on Demand is the best thing ever). Easily the best thing Gervais has ever done.

One thing I will say, and it's a criticism that extends to the entire show, is that Ricky Gervais remains a hypocritical git. The second series revolved around the creation, and subsequent creative buttfucking, of his sitcom by the BBC. Yes, we all remember how The BBC took The Office from Gervais and turned it into a laugh-track-filled, soundstage-based, multi-camera traditional sitcom filled with racist gags, cheesy catchphrases and cheap innuendo.

I have the same issue with this special to an extent. Oh, Gervais hates reality shows, fame and people who sell out to achieve it. The guy was in Celebrity Boxing, for Christ's sake.

That said, if you watch it and try to disregard things like Gervais's lazy, cheque-cashing cameo in crap like Night At The Museum, the special remains one of the better 80 minutes of television in 2007.

Sorry to bump this up now but I just started watching this show and this is the only thread I could find dedicated to it. Have watched the first four episodes. I LOVE it! It's hilarious. I was dying of laughter from the episode with Samuel L. Jackson. So sad it's not still on.

Great show.

Also, I think I'm the only one in this thread that posts anymore. :(
