At first, I thought this would flop but after looking at the TV Spots from Super Bowl last night, I'm convinced that this will be another hit for Relativity Media. I'm predicting something like $15 million with a $40-$50 million total. I think this will be a surprise.

LOL! I know right. This movie looked like a complete failure from the start and then Relativity pulled out those awesome tv spots during the SuperBowl and people pretty much ate it up. What a turn around.

Wish this would come out already, so I can stop seeing advertising for it. Barf.

Yeah I actually think this will do relatively well. The high-profile country soundtrack will probably help.

Quote:
1. For You (Keith Urban) 2. Guide Me Home (Sugarland) 3. I Was Here (Lady Antebellum) 4. The Best I Can (Jake Owen) 5. If The Sun Comes Up (Trace Adkins) 6. Two Soldiers Coming Home (Lori McKenna) 7. What It Takes (Montgomery Gentry) 8. The Best Of Me (Josh Kelley) 9. Where We Left Off (Hunter Hayes) 10. Whatever Brings You Back (Wynonna Judd)
That's a pretty nutso lineup. The Keith Urban song is over the end credits.

Relativity seems to have alot of faith in this. It's being released in 3,000 theatres next week. I could see it topping $20M now.

And it will 99.99% likely be number one since Tyler Perry's next movie, isn't getting as good buzz as his previous ones.

I actually think this could do numbers similar to Red Tails a few weeks ago.

This is being screened on military bases.

Re: Act of Valor Predictions
To me this looks really bad and the trailers have given me the feeling of a B-grade action movie. It might do well though given the marketing and the spot, plus Relativity seems to be confident in it so you never know...

Re: Act of Valor Predictions
I also still think this is going to be helped by having a popular soundtrack. It has new tracks from Sugarland and Lady Antebellum, among others. And this is Keith Urban's original track (that may be a single, not sure yet) that will play over the end credits:

Re: Act of Valor Predictions
I could honestly see this breaking out kind of big. Maybe high 20's. People seem to be eating up the whole "real SEALs, real families, real combat action" angle. I couldn't be more turned off by it and hope it does not breakout, but I'm thinking it will. It's nothing more than a propaganda film, IMO. Looks like one long recruitment ad.
I also agree with Libs that the country soundtrack will only help.

Re: Act of Valor Predictions
Indeed. I've heard lots of people discussing it, many of them people who rarely go to the movies or whom I wouldn't associate with being "hip" to new films. It's going to bring a potent audience of conservatives, religious types, military families, etc. out, in addition to the usual action crowd. And the whole "REAL SEALS, REAL TACTICS" angle has been effective.
Walmart has these big ACT OF VALOR standees in their electronic departments. Military and action Blu-rays being sold with Act of Valor Movie Cash. (I needed to do heavy breathing when I saw my beloved Master and Commander included.) But, in a fun twist, amongst the Men of Honors and Wolverines, there was Lions for Lambs. Clearly they, as with most of America, didn't watch Lions for Lambs. The Act of Valor crowd will love those end credits where high school graduates, fathers, sons, etc. disappear from photographs to represent their deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Re: Act of Valor Predictions
"Real Navy SEALs" was such a brilliant ploy. Not only perfectly timed with the Osama assassination a few months ago, but they are also the ultimate...how to say it, you know, the shrouded-in-mystery super-badasses.

Maybe they'll market MIB:3 like that. "Now with Real Aliens!"
