Yeah. Jamie likely would have won regardless, but we were supposed to get the opinion he was pissed because he finally found a worthy opponent only to have it ripped from him by one of his lackies.

speaking of the sword fights, would Nikolaj later have to learn how to fight with his other hand instead?

LOVED this episode.

HATE that the direwolves are ending on the cutting room floor. It my only complaint with the series, and it's beginning to be a major one.

Yeah great episode but shame about the wolves. I guess they wanted the scene to be more about Rob and Theon than the wolves saving the day again. Rickon and Hordor were also sidelined from the Wildlings scene. I guess from here on - we dont really see much of the wolves other than Grey Wind and Ghost. Let's see what happens.

I don't recall seeing Grey Wind or Shaggydog since the premiere episode.

Thanks for reminding me, Tweeps: Game of Thrones ratings are in. But they went down a tick for the first time, with Sunday night’s premiere slipping a tad. The 9 p.m. airing delivered 2.4 million (compared to last week’s 2.6 million). Most of the difference was picked up during the encore airing, with the night’s total finishing at 3.2 million (compared to last week’s 3.3 million).

Nothing to be alarmed about, but a shame seeing that it was such a great episode. And I guess surprising as Ep 5 was very good too.

Not concerned, ratings do fluctuate, so long as the trend is upward, we're fine. Next week I want to see it set a series high, but due to HBO GO, that may be a bit hard.

Thrones viewership was … unchanged. Another 2.4 million viewers for its premiere airing and a total of 3.2 million for the night including the repeat. What’s vaguely still impressive about this: Overall TV viewership for the night was down 21 percent due to the holiday.

Not bad, also impressive since it was available early on HBO GO. I know I DVR'd it, watched it an hour late.

They like botched Selmy Barristan's exit scene. He didnt even go buck naked and no guards were sent after him when he leaves the palace. I also thought that the interection should have been extended more

I didnt mind the Selmy scene, though I did think the Arya scene (with the kid) and the Jon Snow scene at the Lord Commanders room - could have both been done a little better. The Arya one in particular lacked any punch.

Still a good episode. Drogo was badass!!

Well my main complaint is that the scene if done by the book helps build Selmy's character and his disdain for Joffrey. It also shows how despicable Joffrey and petty is over Selmy's reponse about Stannis taking over. Dont you want to see how bad ass Selmy is by taking out 3 gold cloaks unarmed and butt naked

I wouldnt have minded it as you describe but was ok with what they did as well. To be honest, I forgot how the scene played out in the book, its been so long since I read it. The way you describe it makes it sound like it would have been a great scene on TV too.

I hope this wont be a future problem of absolving the battle scenes. Having the guy suffer a concession and waking up at the aftermath of the battle

Budget! But to be fair, I think both battles are omitted from the books too ... I think you hear about them second hand from other characters after the fact. It's been a while, so I'm not positive on that.

Yeah I suspect we wont see any of the battles bar a few scenes. Though I think Blackwater - Ep 9 S2 will showcase the battle, especially as GRRM is writing it.

But true, the first book hardly mentions the battle of the whispering wood. But what it does mention is that Grey Wind ripped apart many of Jaime's men. They completely ignored this from the show.

Still, great episode.

Badass alert.

Quote:
Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones star Sean Bean was involved in an alleged attack in a North London pub at the weekend. The incident is said to have occured while the actor was enjoying a drink and a cigarette in the Sunday sun with friend April Summers. Standing outside the Hill Bar and Brassiere in Camden a passer-by made lewd comments about his companion leading the former Sharpe actor to confront the man.

As reported in The Daily Mail, the unnamed man is believed to have returned to the bar later and attacked the Lord of the Rings star, punched him in the face and 'stabbed him with broken glass'.

Declining a trip to hospital Sean Bean went back into the pub and ordered another drink.

A fellow drinker told The Mail, “Sean is a regular here and we’ve never had any problems before. He was with a very attractive woman and an incident occurred outside the bar.”

“He came in with a cut on his arm and a bruise on his eyebrow. We saw to his injuries with the first aid kit. He seemed ok and wanted to have another drink.”

Neither Bean nor Summers has commented on the incident.

Sean Bean is currently appearing in the HBO drama Game of Thrones on Sky Atlantic.

Lord Eddard Stark thought he was defending the honor of a fair maiden who is of 22 on her name day against another bannerman. It turned out he was defending a wench of the free cities who sired many bastards that would make the Freys envious. Blessed Balor the great and old gods of the north that he only received a small wound for his troubles

DRAGONS!
I almost feared that the show would have no CGI

The dragons looked amazing. 100% fuels my hope that they move to 100% CGI direwolves next year, this show needs those direwolves, and they need to be as awesome as in the books. Go CGI!

Dragons are fine in CGI because we have no real flesh-and-blood reference point for them. A CGI wolf could be quite goofy. I'm fine with the real wolves myself.

Anywho, I loved the finale. As compelling and visceral as ever. Can't wait for the second season, and I'm tempted to read the novels.
