 Re: Production Budgets
According to BOM Unstoppable's budget is even $100 million! Tony Scott just doesn't know how to spend a bit less on his films. Pelham and Deja Vu both made less in theatres domestically than even their budgets and Man on Fire barely made more. All of them cost $70 million or more.

 Re: Production Budgets
That's the problem with BOM - they're very inconsistent - sometimes they honor tax breaks, sometimes they don't... With tax breaks UNSTOPPABLE cost $85m...

 Re: Production Budgets
Wow...I assumed that making two films back-to-back would have helped the budget.
I still don't get how the budget soared from $130 million for Azkaban and $150 million for GoF and Order of the Phoenix to $250 million for Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. I mean that's $100 million more!

 Re: Production Budgets
It didn't soar that suddenly - I remember clearly an Interview with Mike Newell where he said that his movie (HP4) cost $200m - but everyone (e.g. BOM, IMDB) stuck with the $150m budget...

 Re: Production Budgets
Not too bad for The Next Three Days. These types of projects run into trouble when they have bloated 75-90 mil budgets.

Gunslinger wrote: Not too bad for The Next Three Days. These types of projects run into trouble when they have bloated 75-90 mil budgets. 35m? Also re: Potter I assume the budget increases are all due to pay increases? Most definitely for Radcliffe, Watson & Grint. I assume Felton, Rickman, maybe Fiennes would also get healthy increases. Not sure how much they would increase the pay for the twins, Neville, Dean, Lucius, Hagrid, Lupin, Sirius etc but I'm pretty sure they all would have demanded more though not the insane numbers the others will be getting. Would we assume DH2 to stay flat? I don't think they would get an increase from DH1 to 2.

 Re: Production Budgets
Anything above 200m for this part is quite a big amount...but I guess they would still have included the conversion tryouts in this one and then the Trailers and Marketing in 3D and then back would have costed the studios a fortune (nothing bad though cause this is their cash cow ). Actually after seeing the movie there are a couple of shots that look like could have been avoided, but they are here just to make this movie a bigger budget.....specially the destruction of the Horcrux by Ron. This movie is now not suitable for kids and specially families with small kids 35m for Next Three Days looks good, though I am not sure how much it will gain again the juggernaut

 Re: Production Budgets
Wow - look at TANGLED if true: The stakes are particularly high for "Tangled," which by some estimates cost more than $260 million to produce, including six years of development costs. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/ne ... feedburner

 Re: Production Budgets
I would guess Deathly Hallows got a boost in budget because the Howgart's sets could not be re-used/refurbished like they were in the previous films due to the vast majority of the first film taking place outside of it and much of the final film being devoted to its destruction. Of course, that doesn't explain the HBP boost.

 Re: Production Budgets
260m for Tangled? Holy shit Disney must have tons of $ to get rid off. It's another movie this year from Disney that has 150m+ budget. This movie must make around 600m WW to start making profits ( budget + marketing )

 Re: Production Budgets
I seriously just cannot believe that number. Considering that their animated movies are not making as much money to begin with, this figure is just lame if Disney really spent that much. I just does not makes sense....

 Re: Production Budgets
Delays, firing the directors, the new animation process- it all adds up.
260m is a bit much though because it's more than Deathly Hallows already, lol.
