Cause Travolta currently is box-office poison, Be Cool is an unneed sequel like Whole 10 Yards was, most of the trailers at the theaters barely have any laughs unlike Pacifier which was receiving quite alot. Disney knows how to market movies to kids and the director for Pacifier also directed Bringing Down the House. Never underestimate little kids

Yeah, but most guys....whether it be teens or older males...would not go see The Pacifier. Problem is....those guys were and have always been Vin Diesel's main audience. Maybe Ice Cube can get away with that, but Vin?

And you're wrong about Travolta. His last movie was Ladder 49 and I believe that opened over $20 million, so did Swordfish, Domestic Disturbance (?) opened around $14 million in an insanely busy weekend with tons of choices. Basic didn't do so great, but that movie sucked. But Be Cool isn't all about Travolta..it also has Uma, Vince Vaughn, Cedric, Andre 3000 and a lot of hotter actors/musicians who weren't in the first movie. I'm seeing the movie tomorrow night so we'll see if it's as bad as Whole 10 Yards (in my Top 10 for worst movies of last year)

Be Cool will outdo Pacifier, it appeals to a variety of people and mostly the urban market ( Diary should tell you how easy the urban market can effect a movies gross ) Last Travolta film did great btw.

There were quite a number of posters at RT and imdb who saw the Pacifier sneak preview and they said they actually liked the movie. No they werent plants because I checked their name and they had at least 100 posts and registered for 3 years. They also mentioned that if you like Reno 911, you would probably like the film since its by the same writer

The Pacifier is getting much better reactions to the trailer than Daddy Day Care did two years ago. And, Daddy Day Care opened to $27 million. The only advantage it has over The Pacifier was that it was released during the summer. I think The Pacifier is almost a lock for $20 million.

Aw man! So far, the reviews for Be Cool have been pretty god damn bad, I sure hope it rebounds. At the rate it's going right now, I'm not sure if I still want to see it.

I saw both Be Cool and The Jacket yesterday....

The Jacket was terrible. Really slow and it couldn't even remotely be considered a "thriller". It's a drama with a lot of talking and though there are some interesting ideas, it's pretty boring.

On the other hand, Be Cool isn't great but it has some really funny moments and characters. The Rock, Cedric, Vince Vaughn and Andre 3000 steal the movie quite easily from Travolta and Thurman (though it was nice seeing them on screen again...no denying the two have chemistry!)...there was one scene with The Rock that had me howling! That guy should stop with the bad action-dramas and just do comedy. I also thought that Cedric played one of his funniest characters. I would ignore the critics on this one. Most of them are likely jaded because it's a sequel, but in the screening I saw yesterday, they seemed to enjoy it.

Be Cool is really being thrashed by critics. Its at 29% out of 7 reviews that came in
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/be_cool/?critic=all
And the director was the same guy who did Italian Job and Negotiator so I was expecting fresh reviews.
It doesnt bold too well for Be Cool considering Get Shorty was loved by critics

I didn't expect Be Cool to be accepted by the critics. Judging from the trailer, it looks nothing like the original. It's more towards teens and the urban population now. Critics were bound to hate this one.

Not every critic hates urban movies. I remember the first Friday movie got great reviews and so did Barbershop. Not all comedies geared toward black audience is hated. As far as urban audience goes, most black people I knew way back in school really hated the White Man Cant Jump type of movies since that is what Vince Vaughan is doing with his character. I also notice a trend with most urban movies starring a white actor/actress as the lead tends to bomb (Against the Rope,Malibu's Most Wanted, Bullworth, and Hollywood Homicide)
I dont really see that much teen appeal so can someone explain to this old geezer what the appeal is.

i dont know im 15, almost 16, and i think this looks hilarious. the rock looks soo funny as a gay bodyguard, christina millian is a pretty kinda sorta well-known singer, and the premise and trailer just made it look like a fun movie. idk i wanna see it.

I don't think we can forget Save the Last Dance here, as that film grossed over $90M.

Because Get Shorty was a smart, sharply written comedy, and mark my words, Be Cool will be a forgetable film that was thrown together to cash in on the greatness of the original. The desperate comedy audience will once again flock to see it, but it won't be anything worth paying for. I say that as somebody who absolutely LOVES Get Shorty. I can still spot the garbage that Be Cool is trying to pass off on the unsuspecting.
