 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
I thought they were a solid return to form. The first was a sci-fi standout and the second a character comedy standout. Loved the Zapp dream sequences (great Zapp lines: "Drop the space lazer or I'll shoot... like so!" and "I'd like to make love to you, Leela... so I will!") and the slow reveal that EVERYTHING that had happened on the planet was Zapp's doing.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Really enjoyed the first three episodes. I'm not sure if they're up to Futurama in its prime, but they're a million miles ahead of Family Guy after its 2005 resurrection, compared to its pre-cancellation run.
But... the Susan Boyle thing... that had to be the worst thing Futurama has ever done. It felt really forced. Something South Park might have done on one of its mediocre satirical episodes, or, at the very worst, a Family Guy cutaway gag. Just didn't work on Futurama at all.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
It's still not quite on the same level as pre-cancellation Futurama, but it's getting there. It's gone from disappointing to brilliant in six episodes, which is more than I hoped for.
Keep it up.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
The last two episodes have been stellar. I particularly loved the Leonardo Da Vinci episode and the running joke with Fry and nails.
Also, has there been a better throwaway gag on TV this year than Hermes contracting Clownitis and the subsequent symptoms? No. There has not.

The last episode was simply superb. One of the best of the series, in fact.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Agreed! They really seem to have a fantastic balance in terms of quality sci-fi stories and jokes this season so far. This last ep and the Da Vinci ep rank up there with Godfellas in terms of great sci-fi premises. It's remarkable how different in quality the eps have been so far in comparison with the movies.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Excellent episode! I love how they're finally exploring the Fry/Leela relationship! And when the Professor fell as they were "coming back around" was HILARIOUS.

The last few minutes of the latest episode is one of the funniest things Futurama has ever done.

I really like futurama, so glad they are making new episodes, it deserves, it became a popular cartoon show in many countries, spot number 2 behind the simpsons

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Lethal Inspection and The Late Phillip J. Fry were two of the best Futurama has done so far. The latter in particular was full of ambition. That might have made a half-decent made-for-DVD movie. It was perfect in 21 minutes, mind you, but... there was so much future to see!
Loved the Lethal Inspection ending, even though it completely contradicts what they've told us about Bender's "birth" before (he was born the way he looks now, not a baby as "Inspection" showed us). What separates Futurama from most animated shows is its characters, something The Simpsons did once upon a time and something Family Guy has never done. Not saying that non-stop jokes aren't the way to go for a show like Family Guy, but I appreciate the constant effort to make a bunch of 2-D people, aliens, robots, fish, etc., feel human.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
While I still enjoy the newer episodes of Futurama, one thing that they could do away with is relying their episode on a pop cultural phenom like the twitter episode. It becomes too much like Family Guy like Ecks said and I really cant stand that show. I also dont like the whole paradox thing that they brought in both the movies and episodes. It definately ruined the Luck of Fry and Jurassic Bark moments

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Episode tonight with the body switching was a new classic. This show has been on a roll and the last roughly half dozen episodes are the best it's ever been, to my taste anyway.

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
Just finished the season with "The Prisoner of Benda" and "The Mutants are Revolting". The former was epic. The latter was good, but if you were expecting something bigger for the mid-season finale and the 100th episode, you'd be disappointed. It was good though. Overall, I think this season will hold up well to fans. Plenty of classic episodes. The only bad episode was that whole Susan the Boil debacle. It wasn't even tasteless humor. It just wasn't funny. More often than not, when jokes fall flat on Futurama, it's just personal taste. But that was beneath Futurama. It felt like they were catering to Comedy Central's audience with that. But yeah. A few good/okay episodes and a few great episodes. Episode rankings in spoilers: Lethal Inspection (Continuity aside, loved the ending) The Late Phillip J. Fry The Prisoner of Benda In-a-Gadda-Da-Leela Rebirth The Duh-Vinci Code ---- (probably cut here for line between favorite episodes and the "just good"/okay episodes) The Mutants are Revolting A Clockwork Origin Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences That Darn Katz! Proposition Infinity (I don't really remember much about it) Attack of the Killer App (Susan the Boil)

 Re: NEW FUTURAMA!!!
See the first image from the 'Futurama'-'Simpsons' crossover episode Quote: Good—no, great—news, everyone: Springfield will be the site of another crossover episode besides the invasion of the Griffins from Family Guy when the Simpsons encounter a familiar pack of now-homeless space adventurers. Futurama, the 31st-century animated comedy that was canceled (again) last year, will return to life—or at least Fry, Leela & Co. will—in a special episode of The Simpsons airing Nov. 9.
“That was a really tough one to negotiate, because I had to talk to myself,” says Matt Groening, creator of, well, both shows.“Simpsorama” is taglined in the opening credits as “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes,” and the second half of that joke is one reason for this installment. “They were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters,” says Simpsons exec producer Al Jean, adding, “We’re always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, ‘Well, what’s more compatible?’ We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer’s hair.”
The crossover—which features Futurama voicecast members Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, Tress MacNeille, and Maurice LaMarche—will unspool a complex, Terminator-esque story that involves Bart blowing his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule. When that mixes with Milhouse’s rabbit’s foot and some radioactive ooze, it creates a global catastrophe in the future, prompting Bender to travel back in time to kill Bart and prevent this mega-mess. And as you’d imagine, “Simpsorama” teems with Futurama inside jokes and a Simpsonized tweak of its title sequence. Adds Jean: “There’s a thing in Futurama code where if you solve it, it says, ‘Congratulations! You’re a nerd.’” Check out the first-look image from the episode above, Bender seems to be in kill-not-just-Bart-but-all-humans mode. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/04/simps ... 0a0bbf350aThis is gonna be sweet
