So lets see... hmmm... maybe they are bad, but I nailed everything last weekend so I give it another try:

1. Hitch – 21m
2. Diary of a Mad Black Woman – 19.6m
3. Constantine – 12.5m
4. Cursed – 10.0m
5. Man of the House – 9m
6. Million Dollar Baby – 8.1m
7. Because of Winn-Dixie – 6.9m
8. Are We There Yet? – 4.2m
9. The Aviator – 4.2m
10. Sideways – 4.1m

Maybe we'll be up to a 70% drop by the time BOM's estimates come out.

(I'm sure that I will later be told that I said "it WILL drop 70%")

Constantine can't drop 70%, because it will rise on Saturday... it won't even drop 60%!

He's talking about by the time Box Office Mojo's Friday numbers come out. Not the drop for the whole weekend.

It will drop at least 60% for the weekend. Yay! It's already a big hit, bigger than it deserves I'm sure, so I don't see what the big deal is. It was obvious it would drop at least over 50%. Too bad it will probably beat Cursed for the weekend. But maybe not, since more adults watch the Oscars and so a lot of them will be home watching that and a lot of teens might be going to the movies. Who knows, but I'm hoping Cursed can have a nice Saturday increase, even if that usually doesn't happen with horror films.

This definitely makes me want to see CURSED again now A.S.A.P. and bring a bunch of people. Also, I think when THE RING 2 comes out I'll purchase tickets for CURSED and see THE RING 2. THE RING 2 will likely be better, since THE RING sure was, but I still like to help out the underdog and that movie will have a crapload of money coming to it and won't need any help from me.

Not enough people saw ALONE IN THE DARK to catch on  .

But BOOGEYMAN is definitely a big factor in it. It was a big breakout hit and most thought it sucked and was boring, so it took away money from CURSED , as did the million other horror flicks released so far.

Not a chance in hell ;).

It will worldwide for sure, well over that, just not domestically. Even after it opened last weekend so well I knew it wouldn't make 100 Million domestically.

Cursed might not even get to $30M total.

Shocks for me:

Constantine - had good overseas legs and wasn't showing that much frontloadedness in the dailes

Man of the House - did better than I expected

Cursed - Expecting 6 million opening +

Are We There Yet - very strong dailies, but only a 165% Friday increaase?!

Diary of a Mad Black Woman - something told me it would do better than expected, no idea it could have topped the weekend

I wonder how much Hitch would have done this weekend without Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

Actually, I'm pretty positive CURSED will get to 30 Million. It will open with 11 Million. DARKNESS FALLS opened with $12,024,917 at about the same amount of theaters (2,837) and finished with $32,539,681. That movie had awful word of mouth and was also PG-13. This one will cross 30 Million. Plus the budget was 35 Million for CURSED (plus all other costs) so that's not bad at all. It will come close to making that amount domestically, and will much more than surpass it worldwide. Plus it will do around 40 Million in rentals and a bunch more in sales (movies make a crapload of money in sales - this one will probably make 30 Million in sales its first week). No matter what, there's no way it won't be a success.

For those keeping score at home.

"Where did that come from?!"
"Check out that drop on Constantine. I told you so!"
"Constantine was great, though, it deserved more."
"It won't make much more, though, you're dreaming, kid!"
"Hey, it was a good film, and quite a few enjoyed it."
"It's going to drop 60% or more. I told you so!"
"Damn paki."
"I like men."

Well, the last part hasn't happened yet. Once Rusty gets here, it'll happen.
