So...umm...will How to Train Your Dragon finish with a bigger gross than Shrek Forever After?!

Because that is entirely possible at this point...

Damn. 2m means 60% drop drop. Looks like Dreamworks couldn't boost it since that would mean demoting Shrek even further.

Hmm, harsh drop for How to Train Your Dragon, indeed. However, I expect it to rebound over the long holiday weekend and it pass $215 million within the next two weeks. Then it might be a long way until $220 million so it depends on how long it can stay in theatres for.

Shrek Forever After will benefit from clearly larger weekdays, but Toy Story 3 will kill it in June.

It also faces Marmaduke and Karate Kid in its third and fourth weekends, which is a lot more than Dragon faced in its first two months. It could suffer three 40% drops in a row before TS3 kills it.

This is gonna be awesomely close, methinks.

So who else is in?

I think Shrek Forever After will need a multiplier of at least 3.08 to finish above Dragon and right now I don't see such a drastic improvement over the third film's 2.65 multiplier...

With $210,990,918 in the bank after nine weeks on release How to Train Your Dragon now has hit pretty much the same mutliplier that Finding Nemo had overall - 4.83. That will make it the leggiest major animated film since Shrek!

Dragon is now tracking:

- $17.9 million ahead of Monsters Vs. Aliens

- $0.5 million ahead of Kung Fu Panda

- $5.3 million behind WALL-E

At that point of their releases Monsters Vs. Aliens made another $5.3 million, Kung Fu Panda another $5 million and WALL-E another $7.5 million.

Current worldwide total:

$446.6 million

And that with Japan still ahead. It'll end up with $475+ million worldwide, I think. What a great performer on all levels for an original non-Pixar animated film.

HTTYD is exceptional in its run no doubt about it but SHrek4 has a very large fanbase overseas. We have seen that clearly for Shrek that even with few opening it was #2 on overseas circuit, though that can also be attributed to very few openings this week but the holds there are strong.

Domestically I think Shrek will have decent weekend ahead and should be able to pass HTTYD. We must also remember the weekly totals which in comparison to HTTYD are bigger. It still has one month of 3D screens to itself in summers. This will actually be the first 3D movie of the summer going into sophomore weekend. I would say that the drops for 3D movies non summer have been great so Shrek should not be an exception given the large fanbase and a light OW

Is there really a need for HTTYD2 - - it seemed like a standalone story to me.

Hmm, didn't think it'd lose more than half of its theatres again this weekend.

Prince of Persia is being released in Digital Format which basically needs the 3D theaters (atleast here). Though I was not able to spot the difference between the 2 formats during the movie.

Looks like it'll avoid a 50% drop over the weekend despite losing more than half of its theatres.

By the end of the 4-day weekend, it'll be at around $213 million. Frankly, I would still not rule out $220 million. It'll depend on late legs. Monsters Vs. Aliens grossed $5+ million after it stopped making $1+ million a weekend. WALL-E made almost $6 million after its last $1+ million weekend.

- $1.7 million ahead of Kung Fu Panda

- $5.3 million behind WALL-E

Worldwide total: $460.2 million

If there were any doubts then MD Weekend confirmed it that S4 will make more than HTTYD. Still Dreamworks have found another franchise I think that should be good for another 1-2 movie

At the end of the week How to Train Your Dragon stands at $213,394,860, almost exactly $2 million away from Kung Fu Panda's total gross.

LOL. And you say my English and the understanding of it is bad. :funny: :funny: :funny:

WALL-E has $5.7 million more after the same comparable weekend. From now on the gap will only widen. HtTYD has maybe around $2 million more left in the tank. In the end WALL-E will have around $7 million more than HtTYD.
