Nice rebuttle... but still how would a species go on if the opposite members of each gender did not attract to eachother? It would be almost anti-adaptation.

Thats not something that needs to be worried about. Noone is saying that every person is gay...the argument that the human species would die out because of homosexuality is laughable....cmon...

I don't have a lot of good arguments, just my belief.

Why do you believe homosexuality is good, or right?

Honest question here...

Don't you find it kind of disheartening that you can't back up your beliefs with anything other than "Well, it's in the bible...."?

Well the Bible IS the Bible. I don't get why people can't accept others beliefs. I'm through trying to convince others things over the internet because it is nearly impossible to change their mind. Making the Bible out to be something trivial is going to make your mission to change his mind that much harder.

Sure, I can. I would just expect someone with such steadfast beliefs to have something more concrete to stand on then text from a book. Use your faith as one of many reason, not the only reason. Then it just becomes a crutch for the weak minded.

That's easy. Homosexuality is right because it doesn't hurt anyone. Therefore, on the other hand, violence or rape isn't right. There's no need of an ancient book to tell us about these things.

I agree....and the problem with alot of people is, is they pick and choose certain parts of the bible to live by, while saying other parts do not apply

Exactly.

I don't mind people having faith. I just can't stand it when it's used in regressive, oppressive ways.

Well makeshift. This is a fallacy. What you're stating IS YOUR belief. The thing is, keep in mind that for most people, if you've convinced yourself in the belief of God and well, in this case that this religion is your true faith, then you need not question the book. I know its a hard concept for you to take in (and well, even for me sometimes cause i question everything in the Quran) but the point is ... ok, heres a bad example:

When you're in the army, you do not question a general's decision .. theres a reason .. you expect him to be right and yourself to be uninformed at a certain point. In this case, its not about a matter of ranks but the fact that you truly believe that God is RIGHT and so his word. So honestly, I think hans in some ways is very right here. To tell someone that their faith is not enough of a backing is a slap in the face. You're looking at it from how you want things to be done, not how others see it. Ofcourse this means that others should respect your belief as well and 100%, they should even if they choose to not accept it.

I dooubt my words here will change anything though. For me, faith really is something like that. Having the belief in God is sometimes enough and for those who do not wish to see it this way will always say that faith itself is not enough of an argument .. its a blind argument .. i dont agree with that but .. whatever ...

Then again, I question everything too.

you might learn its a little wiser to first do your research and gain knowledge and such and THEN make up your beliefs

just to add to what i said earlier right now makeshift. I'm not criticizing and you can take it as it is .. but in many ways, considering you're questioning his outlook on how he sees things using teh bible, you're pretty much slapping him on his face as well .. the way hes chosen to live his life for himself.

I mean, there are many personal things people do (that don't effect others) but by stating that you dont respect someone who thinks something just cause the bible says so means you're pretty much criticizing their entire way of living which to me is very much like how someone may criticize a gay lifestyle. I know you're not stopping anyone from living it .. i agree .. but in some cases, you're not allowed to practice your faith either (schools if i'm not mistaken)

part of the problem is the religious culture of trying to "convert" non-believers

Living in the "Bible belt", I was just kinda shocked to see so many people actively supporting homosexuality. To me, homosexuality is a twisted form of rebellion and people are not born "gay".

That's all I'm going to say about this for awhile... I don't know what else to say....

Yeah, Casey, I'm absolutely sure people wake up in the morning and go "Hey, you know what? I feel like being ostracized by my family and a good deal of society. I'm gonna turn gay!"
