I think the word Peroxide should have alerted you of its bleaching properties.

I found something much gentler (Neutragena Daily Wash) which is much better for the skin (there are a lot of indications that BP shouldn't be used long-term because it is a pretty harsh chemical...)

Re: Official WoKJ Metrosexual Grooming Thread
Outside of razor bumps (which aren't really pimples), I don't get acne except maybe a mild breakout before mid-terms/finals. Nonetheless, I use the Acne.org BP 2x a week or so. This is the cheapest you will find. 8 oz for $16. Lasts me a year or so. Like Korrgan said, let it dry for 5-10 minutes. I also put it on a night w/ already bleached tees. In my bathroom right now are...: Scrub (before shaving): Kiehl's Facial Fuel Scrub Moisturizer: Neutrogena Visibly Even SPF 15 Shave Cream: Urth Shave Cream Face/Body Bar: Nancy Boy Replenishing Shampoo: L'oreal Vive Smooth Intense Hair Stuff: Nancy Boy Styling Cream If really sunny, I use: Mission SPF 30 or Skinceuticals SPF 30 or Coppertone SPF 30 (whatever's around...all of these are broad-spectrum. If your sunscreen doesn't have Zinc Oxide, Avobenzone, or Titanium Dioxide, you're not getting enough protection against UVA rays. I prefer Avobenzone, because the others are very whitening). Order your stuff from Nancy Boy, btw. I just received this e-mail from them, which is funny as always: Quote: I was minding my own business making Molotov cocktails for that night's "Zucchini Are People Too" demonstration when he dropped the muddy dismembered corpse of Avon Representative Barbie® on the kitchen counter and harrumphed over his shoulder "I'm going to keep digging, maybe I'll find her head." He's gotten used to me burying things, maybe it was the decapitation that freaked him out. I recall I'd been preparing for the weekly fashion show, trying to stop 50th Anniversary Nascar Barbie™ from sniffing Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Barbie's™ lacy underthings and whoooosh the next thing I knew I had the meat cleaver in one hand and a big hunka Dynel in the other. The thing is she had it coming we didn't care for her one bit. When we wanted to share about Ken's lack of external sex characteristics, his refusal to discuss it, how empty we feel emotionally when he shuts us out like that, not to mention the aching physical need we're left with (all except 50th Anniversary Nascar Barbie™) Miss Avon Calling would barge in and demonstrate the virtues of her eye cream which we all knew was just overpriced moisturizer. Maybe that's when we decided everyone would be happier if she was separated. From herself. What I do know for certain is here at Nancy Boy we were in eye cream development for a solid year and discovered the entire product category is a hoax. There are three problems that everyone (me, you, that dreadful Simon Cowell) wants to solve: dark circles, puffiness and fine lines. Find out what's actually possible—and isn't—and how we have the most effective product at a fraction of the competition's cost: http://www.nancyboy.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=118This month's Club Nancy Boy bonus offers are endorsed by Condoleezza Rice Princess of Peace Barbie ® so you know they're something special. June orders with an after-discount total of $40+ will receive a choice of travel-sized invigorating body wash, mild facial cleanser or styling gel. Orders of $100+ will receive that item plus a choice of a soy candle in glass (your scent choice), replenishing face mask, unscented body moisturizer with shea butter or replenishing body wash. When you hit the spending thresholds you'll see these choices appear in your shopping cart if you scroll down a bit. If you don't see them, then write a note in Order Comments and tell us what you'd like. Our San Francisco store patrons know we offer a stunning collection of décor including vintage German and American pottery, classic mid-century furniture and one-of-a-kind accessories, all painstakingly selected and restored by Jack. Because some items move so quickly and I'm too lazy to update our site, he's started a Twitter account to update folks on new arrivals. omg Ross, I get the Acne.org products. It's the best BP I've ever used, and it's cheap for the huge amount you get.

Er, hate to break it to you, but a lot of the Neutrogena cleansers are really irritating. Most cleansers, actually, are irritating. Plus, I don't think having salicylic acid or BP does anything in a wash, cuz how long does that product remain on your face anyway? My face always feels better when I get a gentle cleanser (like the Cetaphil bar) and a harsher scrub. The harsh, day-to-day cleansers make me spend more in moisturizer.

Re: Official WoKJ Metrosexual Grooming Thread
I only get the BP regularly. I like the acne.org moisturizer, but it doesn't have sunscreen. I always throw in the cleanser out of guilt cuz the shipping cost is so high (but it still works out to less than anything from CVS or a grocery store...not to mention Sephora)

My face always feels better when I get a gentle cleanser (like the Cetaphil bar) and a harsher scrub. The harsh, day-to-day cleansers make me spend more in moisturizer. Some of them yes. This is basically just a gentle facial cleanser without the BP or Salycic acid component. Might not work for everyone but it usually works well for me. But I also use it before bed because it makes my skin feel refreshed after a long day (in fact I just used it :p) And I used to use a Salycic acid cleanser (Biore Ice Cleanser, I've usually had decent luck with their products they were just too strong and irritated my skin and made it redder), and then followed up with Clean-N-Clear BP gel (cheapest stuff out there but has the same %BP as other products and I tried a number of them and never found a difference in efficacy). The gel (forget the name I still have a tube around somewhere though) was what caused my shirts/sheets/towels to bleach. And I usually use a scrub every few days. I've tried a few different ones, including ones specifically "for men" as well as ones such as St. Ives which I always liked. I just ran out so need to go back and get some more. And every once in a while I do a face mask too. As far as moisturizers I use an under eye cream (would have to look at the brand it was a gift) and then Aveeno SPF15 daily moisturizer ... I just don't like to use moisturizer a lot because it can cause breakouts if it is too oily (though again it is a loose-loose situation because if you spend too much time trying to cure acne you will end up causing permanent damage to your face and it will age a lot faster).

Re: Official WoKJ Metrosexual Grooming Thread
All benzoyl peroxide will bleach if you're not careful.
St. Ives is bad for your skin (I used to swear by it). Use my Kiehl's Facial Fuel Scrub...or John Allan's Scrub...or Urth Scrub. Your skin will thank you. These are all pricey, but I only buy them maybe once a year.
Eye cream is such a scam. Read the article I posted by the makers of Nancy Boy (aka: best stuff in teh world) above.
Finally, make sure your SPF has avobenzone, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide. Otherwise, you're not getting real UVA protection, even if the bottle says otherwise.
But yeah. Simple cleanser + scrub + SPF + BP every once and a while = happy skin. Except in the shaving department, which I'm still figuring out.

Well like I said I've been trying some different products so maybe St. Ives isn't the best. I'll look up those that you said (I'm actually getting close to needing to replace my other products anyway). Where did you say you get them from? Oh and the eye cream I only use because it was...well free. It isn't something I plan to go out and replace when it runs out (and it is a small container but you use such a small amount). Heck, if it has only minimal effects, it is sitting in my cabinet might as well use it, you know?

Also also, I weirdly don't really get sunburned that badly. I usually get really burned for, like, a day but I weirdly end up having the burn become a tan almost immediately. I'm not sure why, since the rest of my family burns easily.

In D.C. we have this nifty little chain called BlueMercury. I think there are other locations too. I like going there, despite the high prices, because I can return anything that I don't like, even after it's been used. They're also generous with sampling. I also like The Grooming Lounge -- (also) D.C. based and very flexible with returns/generous with samples. http://www.bluemercury.comhttp://www.groominglounge.com

It would work perfectly for UVA Health Center's STD Awareness Campaign At Cornell, our health centers literally have a basket of condoms that are a free-for-all. No registration or ID swipe needed. It works out pretty well, except I wish they had Trojan Ultra-Thins instead of Durex

We had something like that. I was with my friend once and he wore extra extra baggy shorts with a lot of pockets and just dumped the entire basket full of condoms into his shorts.
The nurse/secretary there then winked at me, and I was just like...yeah we're just friends.

My skincare routine isn't even metrotastic. It's just a cleanser and moisturizer/after shave and scrub before shaving. Nothing too complicated. Nivea for Men and Gillette definitely make those products, and if you've ever smelled their products, you'd know metros wouldn't dare touch them. They are exclusively for men with impaired nostrils and/or people who want to out-smell their bros that rock Axe.
And no, snack. Yogurt does not make you metro. It makes you boring. Yogurt sucks.
