Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '08
The way their opening coverage roll-up looked, you'd think there's only 4 players in the tournament, lol
8-8 now

So if Kuznetsova makes it to the finals or wins, is she #1?

Shack wrote: That Verdasco-Ancic match appears to be full of drama... I wouldn't know, because ESPN thinks continuing to show Federer once he's up 2 sets and a break is more interesting than their 5th set. I can't even blame them for making that choice (or showing Nadal shitting on his opponent yesterday over the Stepanek-Youzhney 5th set), but could they even give us updates? They didn't mention it at all past the 4th set, it's like they were afraid to show a better match was on that they didn't want to show. It's still on now, but naturally it'd be more interesting to show Serena shitting on her opponent. I'd rather watch the boxscores of the Ancic match than that to be honest... whatev. I think this is the only advantage of living in the UK.... with the BBC coverage you can go interactive and choose which court to watch.... in HD. Love it

So, since Dementieva is the highest seed remaining, I suppose she's the favourite for the title now?
Not so much?

Wasn't Kuzentsova up like 4-1 in the 3rd? I thought it was over I assume this is a first, having none of the top 4 seeds in the quarters? Can Dementieva be the #1 if she wins? lol

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '08
My god that Murray match was the most entertaining 4 hours of tennis i've seen in a LONG time. Amazing comeback and an excellent atmosphere. Hopefully that'll put an end to the Murray bashing in the british press, well until wednesday anyway.
Tough day for Jankovic, but really, what was she doing on court 18? the scheduling this year has been awful with some downright weird decisions everyday.

Unbelievable, Zheng Jie. First wildcard ever to the semifinal at Wimbledon.

Re: The Tennis Thread - Wimbledon '08
I don't want to seem harsh, but i see both womens semi finals being very short, one sided affairs. I hope not though, i'd like to see some good matches.
Amazing result for Zheng Jie today, kind of reminds me of Kimiko Date's run to the semi's back in '96, apart from she was japanese, not chinese, obviously. I think Date was seeded 12 that year and played a great semi against Graf, hopefully Zheng Jie can do the same.

I wonder what semifinal will be more competitive. I think Serena is playing better than Venus and Zheng is playing better then Dementieva. It will no doubt be mostly the Williams' racquets but I hope for some good matches, or at least a good set from each semi.

we'd all luv each semi to go 3 set but it ain't happening. straight set (mostly boring) victory by the sisters. the final match will be EPIC!
