But I was wondering if maybe we could pool a lot of things into one to save space. For instance, maybe one thread for each show instead of individual seasons. and 1 thread for an artist.

i just think this way might encourage more discussion and also less congestion.

i mean 20 different threads for The Simpsons and 11 for Madonna takes up a lot of space.

Also some casual fans might not know what season their favourite episode is in or what album their favourite song is on because it was only on a Greatest Hits album.

also i don't think polls are necessary in these forums. (especially in music) considering the amount of vandalism that takes place in the movie review forum and occasionally in the music forum.

also it means less work for u!

About whole series, yeah, I was wondering if it'll be a good idea to have threads for them too (I would still like to keep individual seasons threads as well)...asked for opinions in "Request a show" thread. But definitely against that for Music. Artists can be talked about in the main Music forum, as they are now. And many albums by the same artists are quite different.

well can you remove the polls from the music ones then.

Polls in Everybody's a Critic are prone to vandalism too (as every other poll is). There are many unaccounted votes that are usually lower grades for some movies.

I think the polls should stay. If an album spurs a few pages it's easier to see the general opinion by looking at the poll, rather than reading thru pages, thus pretty much wasting time.

I think that votes should be visible.

As far as individual albums and seasons is concerned I think they should both stay. If you Nebs think that artists can be discussed in the regular forum, I don't see why the same wouldn't apply to TV shows. After all season can differ a lot one from another.

For TV shows I think it would be better if a discusssion topic would be made first and then when the season ends it should be turned into a poll and those who have seen it should grade it (that's for current season of the shows). So all of the already made discussion topics should not go to waste, as they're more or less everyone's thoughts and opionions on the seasons of various shows. I'd rather see them made into polls an transferred into Rate a TV Show part.

Hmm, I like it the way it is. We have hundreds and hundereds of polls in the Everyone's a Critic forum...why should TV series seasons (of which there'll be less threeads overall, I'm sure) considered less worthy of individual threads?

Anyway, I think individual seasons are fine if someone wants to discuss that one particular season or every season individually.

But I don't understand why completed season and ones in syndication which don't follow seasons anymore can't be discussed in one completed thread especially since this is the Rate a Show section.

Are you going to make individual seasons for Lucy, Twilight Zone or other older tv shows....

Finally, I really don't understand why this is such a big issue, Sex and the City gets 6 threads. All I wanted was 6 threads to discuss these shows as a whole in the rate a show section.

What is the worst thing that happens, they die, best thing would be lots like it and it is shown to be a good idea.

Also even for a series like Buffy that has been done individually, there should be a complete series thread so people could talk about the series as a whole....whether the series had any big turn-ups or downs, etc...

No. Season threads will stay. Now the thing is do we also have threads for complete shows, like in this example above from Grill? At first, I liked the idea. But after reading be.redy's post, not sure about it. Complete series could easily be talked about in the main TV forum...

whatever but again why not give it a test trial to gage the results.

and also, why do people need to bounce around between forums when they are doing the same thing, rating a show or a season.

Plus the main tv forum is for current topics, why should it be tied up with old threads on Lucy, Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Friends, seinfeld, etc.... so one or the other will unneedlessly get moved down to the 2nd pages and they aren't current so this is the wrong place for them.

Frankly, I'm reluctant to even give it a test trial in fears that those threads do not take away possible discussions that could happen in season threads. Not something I'd wish to happen in that forum, especially at its start.

fine...and on the older shows that are syndicated already. I still think they should be here as to put on the main tv page would take away from discussions of current tv topics.

I would think that you can decide if you want to list the show by seasons or just as the whole series in the Rate the Show forum. And after they get indexed like all others, they will be easy to find.

It's a tough decision. For older series, I can see the validity in having a "Lucy, Complete Series" Thread, as there is no point to creating a thread for each season.

I think new and current shows should get season threads, but past / syndicated shows should be rolled into a Complete Series thread.

Either way, just my two cents. You did a great job with all these forums, I think they hold a lot of value, great work!!!

Nebs has put in alot of hard work on this. Great stuff Nebs.

While I dont mind the complete series threads, I think we should let the individual season threads a chance first. Part of the fun is to compare how KJ users rank the seasons. Perhaps down the line we will even have a scoreboard which posts the average rank of each season of each show (kind of like what was done for the movie forum).

I really don't understand why putting season threads in there is a big deal. So within 1000 of other threads, we have 20 or 30 complete series threads, which people can rate, talk about etc. It really doesn't seem to be a big deal or will interfere with anything.

and at worst they can't do worse than others...that have gotten no responses.....still think all old/non-current shows should get the season thread as Eagle also mentioned.
