Awesome, Boogeyman did exactly what I predicted. :) The Wedding Date was also bigger then expected. Ouch for Hide and Seek though.

That's fantastic for both openers. Both were underestimated, especially The Wedding Date. That should get around $11-12 million for the weekend, and Boogeyman should get around $20-21 million for the weekend.

Considering the number of theatres it's in, that's a huge opening for The Wedding Date.

Wedding Date did really well. Too bad they gave it such a low theater release.

Very good for Boogeyman, though the WOM seems to be bad.

M$B will hit $9M for certain, maybe more. Depends on how much Superbowl affects it.

Everything's good for me except for Wedding Date. I'm surprised it did so well when 1) there was hardly any promotion, and 2) Whenever there were commercials, the movie looked terrible.

I kind of expected it though after seeing the Yahoo review #'s.

PEACE, Mike ;)

Mike, obviously you are not in the demographic they were targeting.

Still they dropped the ball with a low theater count.

No one dropped the ball on The Wedding Date. Okay, I don't know what exactly the movie is about, but it sounds like the "Shall We Dance?" move, opening on a low theatre count to get some good business out of it, then they'll expand a bit more. They know it wouldn't be that big in, say, 2800 theatres. But, like Shall We Dance, it will have great legs and probably a $50+ million total gross.

So who gets most of the credit.

- On B, I thought the trailer was pretty creepy and effective.

- On W, was it the movie, Messing fans from W&G.

Really great numbers for all the opening movies.

I am kinda disappointed with Aviator's number.... Is it good?

The fact that Boogeyman was a PG-13 horror movie with an actual creature or monster of some sort was good enough to bring in people. The advertising showed it as a creepy horror movie, so that's all they needed.

It should be noted that The Wedding Date is Universal's Gold Circle division's second straight hit in two months, after White Noise.

You have to remember HUGE drops on Sunday. So I don't expect Boogeyman to pass the 20 Mil mark.

Even though there will be huge drops on Sunday, there will be great increases today, in my opinion. Not for Boogeyman, considering it's genre, but the holdovers, I expect 50%+ increases for almost everything.

It will not outgross it. Nor opening, nor total.

Are you joking? The Wedding Date will open to only $1-2 million less than Elektra, and Elektra didn't even make a 2x multiplier. The Wedding Date will make atleast $30 million. Elektra did not.

No joke, have a feeling it will dissapoint hugely after this weekend. And it will open close to $3m less than Elektra. :D
